Tried for weeks to catch several moles in our front/back yard with a mechanical trap, no success and more destroyed yard. I was skeptical about these sonic devices. However, once placed in the ground as instructed, about 1-2 weeks went by and the moles were gone. It's been about 2 months now and no moles have returned. Very happy with this product, highly recommend them!
I was absolutely delighted with this product for one year…this summer I replaced all four spikes with new batteries and not one of them works…I assumed that was the problem until I put new ones in (yes the batteries are placed correctly). I will never use this product again as I feel they should do better than one year!

Well I can hear them going off, I exchanged the batteries inside a 6 months to ensure they work. Maybe it's the location of coastal Southern Oregon. We can get an great amount of rain. Half of the eight that I bought and installed have continuously needed to be emptied of water. Which of course encourages rust, that renders them useless. I put a thin layer of Vaseline inside the threads to resist the movement of water into the unit. To no avail, they still had water in them. I even raised them an inch of the body above the ground. In fact if you look at the pictures you might see the amount of black body above ground. If you look at the second picture it actually shows a gopher hole less than 2 ft away from an active sensor, I have one unit that has two holes on either side of a sensor less than 18 in away from another one that takes on water. I will continue to replace the batteries put Vaseline on the threads of the lid drain and dry and put them back in the ground. Our tulip garden that was flourishing didn't give me four tulips this year. Without a cure I may have to go to above ground planting. I'm not happy, and my wife is the flower person, that I did this for. And I do use Duracell batteries. The most current date on the batteries say 2032, and I've had to remove them.
