My old key fobs would work intermittently. The small snap discs on the inside would move around. I understand that this is a common problem. I didn’t require programming so it took me about 20 minutes to change over two fobs. I took the circuit board from my old fobs and put them in the new fobs. The battery is mounted a little different so I just had to trim some small plastic studs away to make room for the battery. It was very simple. I am very pleased with how this turned out.

2012 Ram 1500, my old keys wouldn't lock (but would unlock and start the truck). Took one of the keys apart and noticed the OEM keys were designed with metal buttons that after normal use easily separated from the circuit board. Apparently, this is a common cause of failure of the OEM keys.

Got these keys and took them apart (very easy with a phone repair pry tool kit for only a few bucks). There are essentially 4 major parts: The top case, the bottom case, the rubber button surface, and the circuit board. These new keys have an adhesive plastic overlay over the back of the circuit board with the metal buttons over their connectors that can be carefully separated from the circuit board. Then all you have to do is remove all the metal button disks from the back of the OEM key (which are likely already loose as that is your likely problem) and then transplant that plastic overlay carefully over the OEM circuit board making sure all the metal button disks are as centered as possible, then push down with the tool to set the adhesive. Be sure to use plastic tools to not damage the circuit board. Then, put the repaired OEM circuit board inside the new rubber buttons and secure the new top and new bottom case - and voila! New key in about 5 minutes that works perfectly without the need for a $423 programing fee from the dealer!

Of course, your key may have a different problem, but the OEM keys have a flaw in the original metal button disks that makes them not too durable, so there is a good chance this will work for you for 5% the cost of a new key from the dealer.
