Renogy 500A Battery Monitor

Renogy 500A Battery Monitor is able to monitor the amperage flowing out of the battery bank & Measure currents up to 500 amps. Voltage, current, consumed power & battery capacity are all accurately measured & displayed on the LCD screen in real- time. The Battery Monitor is intended to help maintain battery systems for 12V deep cycle batteries, such as ones found in RV, boats or off grid homes, which are regularly charged & discharged.

LOW POWER CONSUMPTION DESIGN

The backlight will automatically shut down when the charging current is ＜100mA and only 1 mA Standby Dissipation. This battery monitor is equipped with data storage capacity. It automatically saves the last testing data when its power is off.

PROTECT YOUR BATTERY

This monitor gives you high precision current detection and accurate battery state of charge. You can also set an alarm for high or low current voltage. When the alarm is activated, the backlight and voltage value will be shown on the screen to alert you on what to do when you reach the cut-off voltage.

EASY TO INSTALL

The package includes
The LCD interface,
500A shunt,
transparent shunt holder,
20 ft shielded wire,
and B+ wire.

The shunt holder makes it very convenient to mount the shunt while the long shielded wire allows you to monitor the status of your battery from a distance.

Despite connecting the shunt incorrectly twice (didn't have load and charge input on the correct opposite side as the battery, I finally managed to get it working. This is a great product to monitor your battery levels and consumption of power. I can tell what each item is drawing for power as I turn it on and how many hours I can run without dropping batteries below 50%. It was easy to install. Love the fact that it also tells me what my charge rate is from my solar panels and how long it will take to bring my batteries back to full charge. It does not actually measure the amount of amps you have left in your batteries. This is something that you set in the parameters of the unit. If you using a deep cycle battery then you should set it for half of the total amp hours supplied by the battery as you do not want to drain your batteries below 50% if possible as this will reduce the life span of your batteries. The only reason I give it 4 stars is that the monitor is not the best quality and has restricted mounting features. I would recommend this product.

Finally, I can see what my battery is actually doing and what state it's in. I installed this meter in my travel trailer to provide more accurate information than the trailer's useless battery meter. That meter measured in 1/3 power increments which drove me crazy...what's that suppose to tell me! I love this Renogy meter because it provides lots of info on the batteries current state in volts, and amp hours remaining based on what you programmed in during initial set up. It will also show you battery usage info i.e amps and watts being drawn or gained if your battery is being charged. Two of the most useful info it has are percentage of power left and time to depletion if the rate of consumption remains the same. It was very easy to install and setup...two thumbs up from me, just what I was looking for : )
