    The construction quality of this mini waffle maker is ok - doesn't look or feel premium, but utilitarian and functional.

    On initial use, the metal plates produceds a bit of smoke and burnt plastic smell, even after following the instructions of washing the metal plates. I ended up putting each plate in and heat it up several times to elilminate the smoking. However, the plastic smell remained for more than a week. Checking the waffle maker, I don't see any plastic parts touching the cooking surface of the plates, so it's just probably the heat elements warming up the plastic construction components on the outside of the waffle maker resulting in the burnt plastic smell. This will probably go ahead and stabilize soon.

    The usabilty of the indicator lights are not the best design, as it's confusing, especially during continuous use. For example, I followed the instruction of plugging the appliance in, and then waited until the indicator light(s) to turn off - but there are 2 lights - one orange, and 1 green (since green is the first light to turn off, I assume they meant the green light here). Then, after pouring in the batter and cooked it for 6 to 8 minutes, I removed the waffle, and then close the lid to wait for the waffle to heat up again for the next batch. However, the green light remained OFF, while the orange light remained ON for the next 10 minutes. So after waiting 2 more minutes with no change to the indicator lights, I opened the lid and pour in the batter, closed it and waited. Now after a few minutes, both the indicator lights (orange and green) turned OFF. Not knowing what to do, I waited 6 to 8 minutes before opening the lid, and discovered the waffle was indeed fully cooked anyway, but both indicator lights were still OFF.

    After this, I no longer followed the indicator lights, just making sure I leave sufficient time between batches for the elements to heat up the plates, before pouring batter in, and then make sure to leave it cooking for at least 8 minutes. This worked fine for the next 6 batches, while the indicator lights just seemingly turn on or off at its own will.

    This product seemed like a good idea. Removable plates make for easier clean-up, and a unit that bakes waffles, donuts, muffins, cupcakes, cake pops, and aebleskiver seemed like a good deal.
    When I opened the box, the removable metal plates seemed light and thinish, meaning it wouldn't retain heat well. That's not great for baking. If the unit heated well, I could have overlooked that.
    So, I decided to make waffles. I cleaned the waffle plates and popped them into the waffle iron. It then proceeded to stink up my kitchen with new cooking appliance smell. I let it cool off, took out the plates, cleaned them again, and brought it up to temp, restinking up my kitchen. I then filled the lower plate with some batter and let it cook, knowing I would throw out that waffle because of that smell. It looked good, but there was no way I or anyone in my family was going to eat it, so out it went, and I refilled the bottom plate with batter.
    Halfway through cooking the second waffle, both light went out, and it started to cool off. Nothing that I nor my wife tried made it start to heat up again.
    It was dead after only one and a half waffles.
    So, yeah, one star, and it went back to 鶹 this afternoon. I do not recommend this unit. It's a great idea, but it's not well made. Save yourself the heartache.

    Not suitable for Belgian waffles. The donuts were ok, if you like small cake donuts. I never used this as a grill or sandwich maker. I sent it back in favor of a larger Belgian waffle maker. I don't need all of that other stuff anyway.

    At first sight, this seemed exactly what I had hoped for. NO... It's just not made as well as I thought. When heating this unit, it gets super hot on certain parts on the outside. I have continually burned my fingers by touching the wrong place while closing the lid. Mind you, not a bad burn but HOT is HOT. lol, A small screw came out of the unit the 3rd time I used it. It would not screw back in. It was stripped which is likely why it came out so soon after using it. I would not recommend it.
