- Reviewed in Canada on July 7, 2015Verified PurchasePros: This rack is well designed and the construction is very sturdy. It does, as it claims, allow one person to mount a canoe without assistance. Some trial and error is required though to adjust the rack height correctly so the canoe height is correct for the truck roof but once that's done you don't have to adjust it again unless you're going to change truck models. The rack comes with an adapter plate that is supposed to connect under an existing towing ball to a ball mount. This allows you to tow a trailer at the same time. Since I won't be doing that, and because this seemed awkward to me, I purchased another ball mount so it has its own.
Cons: The peel-and-stick rubber bumpers that that go on the crossbar to protect the canoe came off after only one use, so I'll have to figure out another way to protect the canoe at the contact points. Also, the bungie cord that's supplied to presumably secure the canoe to the rack for loading and transport is laughable. I certainly wouldn't trust that to hold the canoe in place, either for loading or transport, so do yourself a favour and use a more secure fastening method.

- Reviewed in Canada on August 27, 2024Verified PurchaseGood to have to be able to lift my heavy canoe on top of my Jeep. Wish it tilts because once installed, I cannot open the Jeep's tailgate anymore since it's in the way. In the process, I learned to load the canoe, unhook the whole loader and stow it in the back of the Jeep so that I can free up tailgate access to the cargo area. Same when unloading: open up the tailgate, pull the loader out. Install it. Unload the canoe then uninstall it and stow it back in. So I am always planning around it while I shouldn't be.
Reese: I am sure you can fabricate an tilt adapter for tailgates so that it stays on all the time. Sell it as an add-on or maybe a Version 2.0. I'll buy it. Thanks.
- Reviewed in Canada on August 10, 2017Verified PurchaseThis piece of equipment is very well made and fit for purpose. Very easy to use, makes loading the 18' canoe so single user friendly! I would have no problem recommending this item to others.
Once loaded and tied down to the vehicle rack I noticed the support was a little shakey, so I added a couple of light quick latch corded tie downs to each side of the trailer receiver. Not only did this take all the slack out of the post it also added some directional stability to the canoe in cross winds. Basically it provided three point contact.

I already missed the weekend and the chance to go canoe. I am still waiting to receive my order !

- Reviewed in Canada on December 12, 2024Verified PurchaseThis is heavy but simple construction and seems well enough made. You still have to get one end of the upside down canoe on the crossbar, but after that, loading the canoe to the car by yourself is much easier. Beware you need a wide parking spot on the rotation side.
