Usually when I buy a product, I go online, in stores, look for the best deal at the best quality I can that suits my needs. I don't mind paying a little more if I know it's going to last a long time, and after trying any Red Dragon mouse I've tested (I've tested about 6 of them now), I can say they're really good. And no, I'm not being paid to say this. If you're going to test multiple mice from amazon, I'd recommend wearing nitrile gloves to see how it feels, so the product is in resellable condition.
PROS:
- customizable RGB colours from flashing, slow glow/wave function, solid colour options from any colour you want, through their software.
- software is super easy to use and you can just go to Red Dragon and download what you need. If you're buying the M808 mouse, they may have discontinued the software, BUT you can find it online. 1. I downloaded mine from Reddit. 2. Before downloading the file, right click and do a virus check on it.
- the buttons work very well for me, click nicely, a very well designed mouse down to every detail.
- the mouse is smooth, has no lag for me when gaming and if you want an even smoother experience, remove the PLASTIC FILM on the mouse pads / glides on the bottom.
- the left and right side grip on this mouse is the BEST for gaming in my opinion. When your hand is sweaty, my thumb doesn't move at all. However on another mouse which looks identical to this (the M686 RD mouse), the grip is horizontal and a little too thick, so when my thumb gets even a little sweaty, it moves forward, bringing the whole mouse forward which could mean missing a shot in gaming. That grip style may work for someone whose thumb needs more cushioning, but not for a gamer I'd say.
CONS:
- they don't seem to make ambidextrous mice, which isn't a con for me, but for left handed people, yes. I'd love to see a mouse by them that offers interchangeable sides, like Razor does for some mice. People don't mind paying more for comfort, even $10.00 per mouse more for an ambidextrous version.
- some software isn't available for all of their mice types on their website, but they can be found online. I found mine on a link on reddit. It's always good to do a virus check on the file or link before clicking it.
Also keep in mind:
- you may be better off ordering from 鶹 and Not the Red Dragon website or other retailers. Why? When I checked the Red Dragon website, the M801P mouse (WIRELESS) and the M801 (WIRED) are listed as "Sold Out" and you cannot pre-order when they're back in stock.
- the M801P is the WIRELESS version (still at 16,000 DPI) and the M801 is the WIRED version (also at 16,000 DPI).
- too many devices nearby may cause lag on ALL wireless gaming mice. Personally I haven't experienced this, but I've heard from other users who use other branded mice. So if you have a ton of equipment plugged in (e.g. a streamer or video editor), a wired mouse may be best for you to ensure no lag.
This is by far the best gaming mouse I've ever tried and I've tried Razor, Logitech and others, from cheap to their top tier mice. Go give it a try.
