I've bought many, many mechanical keyboards, and without reservation, the Razer Huntsman Elite is the best keyboard I've ever owned, from the perspective of the one thing that matters the most -- the typing and keypress experience. The feeling of every key is extremely consistent, and the quality and construction of the Huntsman Elite is exceptional, even amongst premium mechanical keyboards.
The Razer Purple switches require a tiny bit less force than the Razer Green switches, but it's enough to notice, and in a positive way. Also, having a the metal bar for every key balances out the keypress, so that you can literally press on any part of any key and achieve the desired result.
I also really appreciate the volume dial and mute button on the top right, and I like the muted, design of the Huntsman elite which doesn't have a zillion other keys.
In comparison to the very similar BlackWidow Elite, the Huntsman Elite is $50 more expensive. But in my opinion, once you're paying that much for a keyboard, you might as well get the best keys you can get, and the Huntsman Elite just has a better feel. I also like the space bar feel on the Huntsman Elite better.
The one thing I didn't like about the Huntsman Elite is the wrist rest. Although it's very pretty with an LED halo, and the memory foam padding is great, it has a metal border, which is both hard, cold, and sharp against my wrists. It's also significantly elevated (to allow the halo to be seen), a design that I find uncomfortable. But this is pretty minor, as it's easy enough to swap in some other wrist rest.
Two other minor criticisms: First, in order to accomodate the halo around the key board, the Huntsman Elite is slightly raised and has a sharp front edge. I generally prefer the sloping front edges of most Razer keyboards, and frankly , I don't care much ab out the under keyboard glow any ways. And second, the Razer Huntsman Elite takes 2 USB ports (the second provides lighting for the halo), but it it doesn't offer a USB pass-through. THat would have been great, as I like them for finger print readers.
