I've always hated mobile gaming. Like, I really disliked it. There was a brief moment where I did okay with it when Stadia was a thing and I 3d printed a mount for my phone to go on my Stadia controller, but about as quickly as I got that mount printed Stadia went out of business. I've been away from gaming on my phone ever since.
Until now.
Now, with this amazingly natural-feeling controller for my phone, coupled with the sleeper-service Luna, a service I had NO IDEA came with my 鶹 Prime membership until quite recently, I'm back into gaming on the go. And I'm not just talking JUST retro games. I'm playing high-end, modern titles through the service on a controller that feels so much better than the Nintendo Switch controller, using my amazing Samsung S23 Ultra screen. It has been incredible.
The controller itself is a beautiful piece of hardware. It has a high-end, premium feel, from the anti-slip texture of the handles down to the subtleties of the click of each button. The joysticks are responsive and smooth and my fingers are able to immediately find every button as if they knew where they were beforehand. It's laid out so naturally and intuitively that gameplay becomes so unincumbered and opposite what I have experienced on the switch that it almost feels unnatural (in the best way possible).
My only real two marks against this controller is that there is no button that I can use as the "luna" button. I'll have to see if I can remap an existing button for this purpose. Second, the USB plug on the controller is not likely to last or a long time unless you're being super careful. When loading your phone, always load the top of the phone to the left side of the holder FIRST before trying to insert the USB C attachment.
It's not cheap, but i's very high quality. It essentially gives anyone with a phone and prime subscription a modern-generation console experience for under $100. that's pretty amazing.
