The "groove" or trough for leg is very shallow and as a result it was difficult to keep positioned on (for instance) an ottoman or footstool. Would likely be a little better on a wider surface such as a bed. I ended up going with a one piece elevation pillow with a higher elevation. About half the price and worked much better for me. This item was relatively expensive (likely due to the adjustable height feature which I found no need for)

Works for sleeping and keeping swollen knee elevated above heart while leg is straight, works on the couch to elevate and keeping swollen knee straight, and works in the recliner for sleeping at night and keeping leg straight. It also provides support for my knee when getting up off of the chair or couch. Of all the things I purchased, this is my ride or die right now. Can’t say enough about the quality, price, and need for this item. Update - the smaller wedgy that detaches is great as healing occurs.
