Product description

ROMAN PRO-880 Ultra Clear Adhesive is North America’s best-selling wallpaper adhesive. PRO-880 is a premium clear non-staining adhesive with excellent wet-tack, extended open-time and unsurpassed ease of clean-up. It is excellent for the DIY’er as well as the most discriminating contractor. Undiluted, it will hang medium to heavyweight wallcoverings (Type II & III) and it can also be diluted for use with delicate and pre-pasted wallcoverings. PRO-880 promotes strippability in full sheets with most fabric-backed wallcoverings over bare drywall. It can be applied with a paste brush or paint roller and flows easily through a pasting machine. Not recommended for English pulp papers; ROMAN’s GH-34 is recommended. Avoid freezing; keep in cool, dry place. Each order includes 1 gallon of ROMAN PRO-880 Ultra Clear Strippable Wallpaper Adhesive (that covers approximately 330 square feet depending on application) and comes with a 1-year limited warranty. How to Perfectly Apply Wallcoverings

Prepare and Prime

Prep Your Surface

Thoroughly clean and dry the surface where you'll be applying wallpaper. Remove any residue, dirt, and old wallcoverings. Repair any damage and ensure your surface is smooth.

Prime Your Surface

Priming your walls increases adhesion, improves durability, and creates a protective barrier between the wallpaper and your wall. ROMAN Primer is the ideal choice for the best results.

Apply ROMAN Adhesive

Cut your wallpaper before applying wallpaper glue. Using a paint roller, apply a thin coat of ROMAN adhesive to the back of your wallpaper. Create an even layer of glue by starting at the center of the paper and working towards the edges, ensuring you get enough paste on the seams. Once the sheet has been fully pasted, you can apply the first strip to the wall. Smooth down the wallcovering and remove any excess adhesive or paper.

    This wallpaper glue is best spread by a spatula. The glue is water soluable, so I simply used a silicone cooking spatula; much better than trying to use a roller to get it onto the wall, then I used a roller to spread it.

    I usually go for the Roman wheat powder that I need to mix, but I decided to try this instead and was not impressed. It's incredibly thick which means I used a lot of product but it didn't seems to cover much area, and working with it just wasn't easy. It has a slight odour I don't like, especially when I'm used to the wheat powder that is completely odourless. It's a faint Elmer's glue vibe. I found that sliding the paper to ensure pattern matching was not easy with this product, no doubt because of its thickness. It didn't give the paper a nice slick back to adjust the pattern as needed which made my job much more frustrating. So, overall, it's okay if you're not into mixing your own product and this is easier but I'm going to be using their wheat powder formula from now on.
