This is a good set of low voltage lights. To install you need to drill a 25mm hole and then the clips hold the light and the wire hides behind whatever it's mounted it. Each light is tiny, like the size of a quarter and they are spaced about 10" apart. The unit includes an LED driver that plugs into a regular outlet. The one issue with this setup is that the only way to turn it on and off is to pull it out of the plug or have a switched outlet. This sort of lighting usually needs a light sensor that turns the lights on a dusk and off at dawn. They are 12V so one could wire this into an existing 12V timer/transformer. The small size makes them great for installing along railings or in stair treads to assist with using stairs in the dark.

Planning to add this 10-pack to the lower step of my deck. The lights are compact (∅35 mm) and run on 12V DC, so they’re safe and easy to wire with my existing low-voltage system. Warm white color looks nice in the sample shots - not harsh, just enough for visibility. IP65 rating means I’m not worried about rain or snow. The included driver is a bonus, though I’ll likely tie them into my own setup.

Build looks solid. If install or performance ends up disappointing, I’ll follow up.

I installed these LED deck lights along my backyard stairs, and they do exactly what I wanted—brighten the steps safely without being too flashy. The light is soft and angled downwards, which helps avoid glare while making it easier to see where you’re stepping after dark.

They’re small but feel solid thanks to the zinc alloy and stainless steel build. I like that they’re low voltage and waterproof, so I don’t have to stress about rain or pets messing with them. The cables between lights gave me enough length to space them evenly across the steps without extra wiring work.

Installation was straightforward—just drilled the holes, dropped the lights in, and hooked everything up. It took some planning to get the layout right, but once connected, they worked perfectly. It’s a nice mix of functional safety and subtle style that fits well with the rest of my outdoor setup.

Update (6/11/2025): It has rained several times, including one severe rainstorm, since I wrote this review. Also, I had the sidewalk pressure-washed just today, with water washing over the lights as they are embedded in the gravel next to the sidewalk. The lights have come through this just fine.

I love my home but there is one thing that is very much in need of improvement, and that's exterior lighting. Particularly in the winter months, when the days are shorter, anyone coming to my house in the evening risks tripping unless I know they are coming and leave the porch light on. And even that has limited effectiveness because it can't project around the corner.

Regrettably, the area where I need the light the most is also the area that gets the least amount of sun, so solar lights are only of limited use. What I need is one or more strings of lights that I can connect to a timer/light sensor. These outdoor deck lights don't have the timer but they do offer light that is not dependent on solar power, and they do so at a reasonable price.

Initial impressions:

- These are a lot smaller than I had thought they would be. This is the second time that I've been fooled by pictures, and by past experience, and didn't bother to read the information about the item. They really are only a little over an inch in diameter, as the seller notes in the description. This is absolutely on me, not on the seller.

- The lights are small but offer bright enough light to allow people to see where they are walking on a porch or on stairs, or provide ambiance to a deck or patio. They are separated by 3 feet of cable, with the connectors from one light to another meeting in the middle.

- The connectors are a bit finicky and I had to reconnect more than one pair of lights to get them all working. Definitely make sure that the arrows are lined up properly on each half of the connection. Once I got them properly connected and the caps screwed on to lock them together, I had no more issues.

- Because each light is fully independent, you can remove or add lights to the string (the latter, of course, up to the limit of the capacity of the transformer). So if, for example, light #7 goes out, you can remove it, connect lights 6 and 8 together, and your light string is still functional.

- These are low-voltage lights, so the cost of the electricity needed to operate them should be minimal. According to one online calculator, the annual energy bill would be less than $10 even if the lights were on 24 hours a day.

I'm using the lights in a way that the manufacturer probably didn't intend, so it will be interesting to see how this works out in the long run. Rather than use them on a deck, a porch, or stairs, I embedded them in a gravel-covered area next to the sidewalk leading to the door, with the lights shining directly on the sidewalk where the light is needed.

This will be a real test of how water-resistant these lights are. There is an overhang over this area and it never has standing water or flooding, but it will get splashed by rain or by a hose if I'm a little careless in washing the car. The product description says that these lights are "IP65 Waterproof." However, according to one site, "An IP65 rating means that an enclosure is protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction, but it is not fully waterproof. ... For example, a lamp with an IP rating of IP 65 may be hosed down with a garden hose. However, it must not be submerged."

Since this isn't really an approved usage, I'm not going to rant if a heavy rain takes one or more of the lights out. On the other hand, if they withstand such a rain and keep shining, that will definitely be a mark in their favor. I'll update this review in a few months with the info as to how well they're doing.

Also, since I'm just dropping these into gravel, I can't test how well they stay embedded in a drilled hole on a deck. I have to say that some of the pictures shown in the description are a bit suspect to me, as in some of those scenarios, I think it would be problematic to deal with 3 feet of cord, not to mention the difficulty in getting at both ends of the cord to connect two lights. For example, installing two of the lights in a bottom step -- you'd have to drill the holes, insert the lights, then get on the other side, scrunch way down and try to figure out how to connect the lights mostly by feel. Before you buy this set of lights, definitely think about how you would install them.

As one example, these are intended to be installed facing downward, so they require a vertical surface wide enough and deep enough to be able to drill the necessary hole and have the lights fully embedded. I have a wraparound porch leading to a larger deck, both bracketed by a wooden railing. There is no possible way for me to install these lights facing downward on the deck or on the porch.

Installation issues aside, so far, I'm seeing what I hoped to see from these lights. They are bright enough to offer good visibility for anyone approaching my door at night, they were easy to embed, they look good where I have them, and they are much lower cost than most of the (plugged in) outdoor lighting alternatives: both the purchase cost and the cost to run them. How they will fare in the long run is still an open question but, so far, I'm pleased and can recommend them if you have a suitable location to install them.
