Is the tire balance glass bead installed correctly?

Accuracy of dosage Before installing tire balance beads, the correct dosage of balancing glass beads should be determined based on the tire specifications. Specific values can be found in the product manual. During installation, use a weighing device to weigh the glass beads and ensure accurate addition. If the dosage is significantly too much or too little, it may affect the balance effect.
Uniformity of distribution During installation, ensure that the glass beads are evenly distributed inside the tire. Some professional installation tools will slowly and evenly guide the tire balancing glass beads into the tire in a specific way to avoid local accumulation of glass beads inside the tire. For example, using an installer with a spiral propulsion device can evenly scatter glass beads along the circumference of the tire.
Vibration of vehicle operation After installing the balance beads, conduct a road test to observe the vibration of the vehicle at different speeds. If installed correctly, the vehicle should be relatively stable and the vibration should be significantly reduced during driving. If there is significant vibration or increased shaking of the vehicle at a specific speed, it may be due to uneven distribution or improper use of tire balance beads, causing the tires to still be unbalanced.
Deviation during vehicle drive Under normal circumstances, vehicles equipped with balance glass beads and well balanced tires will not experience deviation when driving in a straight line. If the vehicle always deviates to one side while driving, in addition to checking tire pressure, four-wheel alignment, and other factors, it may also be due to uneven distribution of balance beads inside the tires, resulting in uneven force distribution on both sides of the tires.
Equipment for testing Use a tire dynamic balancing machine to inspect tires with glass beads installed. Install the tire on the dynamic balancing machine, and after starting the machine, the dynamic balancing machine will measure the amount and position of tire imbalance. If the balance glass beads are installed correctly, the unbalance displayed by the dynamic balancing machine should be within the allowable range.
NOTE It is recommended to consult a tyre shop professional to ensure the installation specification when using the tyre for the first time.

  • Adding too much tyre balancing beads will result in an increase in tyre rotation resistance, affecting fuel consumption; adding not enough will not balance the tyres effectively.

  • May result in overbalancing or centre of gravity confusion. If lead blocks have been attached to the original tyre, the wheel needs to be removed and cleaned before installing the balancing bead.

  • Not suitable for high speed performance tyres (e.g. racing tyres): The dynamic adjustment of the balancing beads may lag at high speeds, it is recommended to use a professional-dynamic balancing machine for weighting.

  • Every 10,000km or half a year, check the balancing beads for lumps (may condense due to dust accumulation), clean or replace if necessary.

  • Possible reasons: Uneven distribution or insufficient amount of balancing beads. Solution: Drive for some distance to let the beads adjust automatically, or re-test the tyre pressure and replenish the beads.
