About this item

This 323 RC2 quick release plate is easy to assemble and disassemble and is suitable for Manfrotto tripods, Monopods. Allows you to quickly and easily change between camera and tripod to save time and energy while reducing potential abrasion on the camera's screw hole.
The quick release plate can be manually adjusted to attach a camera or flash by using the 1/4''' screws on the bottom and the rotating handle.
There is a 3/8" screw hole on the bottom, which can be connected with a 1/4" to 3/8" screw adapter and other devices.
There is a spring-loaded locking system and a locking lever valve at the base, providing safety and security for your camera in case of an accidental drop.
This tripod quick release is made of high quality aluminum alloy material, very strong and durable. Weight: 5oz. Size: 3x2x0.8inch.

I have a monopod and 2 Manfrotto tripods. I started using Peak Designs Clutch and Dual Plate. The Dual Plate allows me to attach directly to both tripods which, have different quick release clamps. Putting the Koolehaoda Camera Quick Release Plate Clamp Adapter on the monopod allows the Dual Plate to connect quickly to the monopod now as well.

I have several Original Manfrotto RC2 Quick Release Plates and a few third party ones. This Koolehaoda Quick Release plate is a pretty good one. It looks very similar to the OEM Manfrotto except it's painted flat black instead of grey.

The sizing is very close and the OEM Manfrotto plates will fit into the Koolehaoda. The fit and finish of the Koolehaoda is good however the locking pin is a bit sloppy and not as nice to open and close as the OEM Manfrotto.

Overall this Koolehaoda RC2 Quick Release plates works and does the same job as the OEM Manfrotto at a fraction of the price. I would give it 5 Stars for function and price but 4 Stars for the sloppy locking lever/button. So 4.5 stars.

If you're looking for a compatible RC2 quick release plate and are on a budget this one is a good alternative to the OEM Manfrotto. I would order this again.

I don't know if it is due to manufacturing variance or it is just made this way, but this Koolehaoda RC2 clamp and plate is sort of compatible with proper RC2 standard, but not exactly.

To keep matter simple: The Koolehaoda plate fits my Manfrotto clamp, but the Manfrotto plate does not fit this Koolehaoda clamp. A bit of a red flag if the product claims to be compatible, because it is partially compatible only. So if you have other Manfrotto tripods but want to add the RC2 system to other tripods, this kit can work because the plate will work on it's own as well as the Manfrotto clamps... but only if you use this plate.

The rest of the build quality is alright not amazing. Notably the locking mechanism needs some improvement. I've seen this type of simple metal bar locking mechanism on older Manfrotto tripods, but they are better finished: the bar on this clamp is a little long and the end is quite rough to the point of having a sharp end.

So once again, it can technically work but it isn't truly and properly RC2 compatible.

I got this quick-release plate because I needed one that I could use with my camera’s sling handle.
I like the sturdiness of this plate and its two-locking system approach.
Learning how to install and remove the release plate takes a minute.
But I have it down pat now.

Installation is literally a snap.
Attach the release plate to your camera.
Then, snap the whole thing onto the base.
The main lock snaps into place, and then you turn the second lock to secure the main lock.
It takes seconds to do this. And release is just as fast.

For its size, the adapter does not weigh much.
Size and weight were considered when getting this device. Why? Because it would be on a handheld sling, not a tripod.
Add the camera weight.
And you can see why a sturdy, secure, lightweight, quick-release device is preferred.
For the price, this release plate adapter is a good deal. Especially, if you have a mounting plate compatible with this adapter’s base plate.

Works just fine with both my OEM and other compatible adapters. Have others that I have had to shave down the camera plate to make them fit the originals, but that's not the case here. Not sure if the material will take the same weight as the original, but no reason to think otherwise from what I can see.
