    There are several reasons to watch this movie, not the least of which is Sharon Stone as a female gunfighter, an occurrence I'm pretty sure never actually occurred in the Old West. Anyway . . .
    Aside from Stone, on display here is some great acting by some great actors. Gene Hackman has delicious fun as the chief villain, a cold blooded murderer who owns the town he lives in, so much so that he gets to host a a rotating series of gunfights where the winners advance until they finally meet him. A much younger Leonardo DiCaprio plays the town's gunsmith & enthusiastic participant in the mayhem Hackman creates.
    Here as well is Russell Crowe, in what I believe is one of his first starring turns in an American movie. Rumour has it that Stone fought to have Crowe included in the movie. His role as a gunslinger trying to reform by embracing God makes interesting counterpoint to the other gunfighters who are all pretty much scum.
    If you like your Westerns with plenty of action & people not hard on the eyes, then butter up some popcorn & watch this sagebrush saga - there are worse ways to spend an evening!
