Works well. I partly wish the pole was a bit lighter as if made of carbon fibre (though that would be expensive) because its hard to lift and wield when full length is in use and I'm a strong 6ft 2in guy. But the weight probably helps a bit with cutting. While you can cut with a nearly vertical reach large branches might bind and you won't get any of the weight of the blade and pole helping with your cut. Its better to use as much length as you have space for and stand out to the side as much as possible to get your cutting on the top of the branch. Also gets you out from under for when it falls. I cut every branch in my neighbourhood with this saw and was a popular with all my neighbours for a week.
