Probably the only evaporative humidifier with a UV light

I've owned several evaporative humidifiers that eventually mold by dead bugs resulting in huge cleanup tasks or still usable filters thrown away, but this one is hard to penetrate and has a UV light to prevent mold. The filter is unlike the paper filters that other brands use and is easy to clean.

A slight annoyance though is that sometimes when you recombine the head, the humidifier doesn't detect the link despite the arrows pointing toward each other. You have to wiggle it a bit for it to properly reconnect.

Overall, a great humidifier.

If you google the word “gimmick”, this humidifier should be the top result.
It looks nice, but in reality they’re selling a $90+ CAD (the price at the moment of my purchase) piece of decorative plastic with a cheap computer fan with LEDs for visual effect, a sponge - aka filter, and a cup of water.
It does not humidify. At all.
Even in “turbo” mode — when this useless device becomes so loud you feel like throwing it out the window — the humidity in a small room did not increase by even 3-5% after more than 2 hours of continuous operation.
All the marketing about “new technology” is pure nonsense and misleading. This is not a humidifier — it’s literally a fan blowing air over a container of water. That’s the entire device.

On top of being completely ineffective, it is incredibly noisy. Even worse, its built-in humidity sensor shows readings that differ by 20–30% compared to other hygrometers I own — devices that have been tested over time and consistently show accurate values. It means on top of everything mentioned before this unit will shut off when the real humidity will be at 20-30% (dry), otherwise you will have to run it in turbo - trust me it's loud....very loud to raise humidity by 3%-5% at best.

In short: loud, inefficient, misleadingly advertised, and wildly overpriced. A textbook example of a gimmick.

Like others have said, the built in humidity monitor is widely inaccurate. About 20-30% off in my case (Eg reading 55% when it was only 30%).

As far as humidification goes, in a small 150sq room running for 8 hours at night it increases humidity by 15-20% (HVAC off). I do think it will underperform if you have the HVAC running, depending how strong it is (less than 10% increase in my case).

It also started to smell really quickly. After I cleaned and soaked the plastic in diluted disinfectant, and washed the filter in the washing machine, within 2 days the cloth filter was emitting a smell (using fresh tap water). In contrast, my Blue Mist humidifier ran for 2 weeks before washing and never experienced an odor issue. I think the issue is the filter just sits in the water continuously, unlike other humidifiers where the filter is raised above the water. This means the filter is constantly wet or soaked and never dry. You’ll also need to dump and change the water everyday if you are using tap water, and even then, I experienced the smell. Just too much work to maintain.

Night mode was not whisper quiet. If you use white noise to sleep, this could be a good option, otherwise be aware it may be a little loud. I put it in a small-medium sized room that matched the size recommendations. Could not even get the humidity up over 40% from 35% but would drain the water. The hygrometer was not even remotely accurate and was usually about 10-15% off, which made the auto function basically useless. I returned it and purchased a Hunter one instead. It's been running for only a few hours and already performing better.

I waited to review and have been using this humidifier for a month now and I highly recommend it! Mist free, easy to refill and use. Effective for my studio apartment. I was having such a hard time breathing through my nose due to dry air this winter and excessive heat from my building but now I can breathe normal thanks to this humidifier. There is a learning curve but it’s straight forward. The sleep mode eliminates light and can get silent. I like the UV light feature and that you can wash and clean filter! First, the customer care provided by Provirtec is top notch. They response quickly to emails and answer the questions at hand. I did not have a problem, just general questions about the product.

I am anti-misting humidifiers. They're messy, difficult to maintain, and almost always end up breeding some sort of floaties. The Provirtec is indeed mist free and truly evaporative, which is not new by any means but they put some extra thought into the design.

Pro's:
- The design is very aesthetically pleasing. We run Winix air purifiers in each room and this looks great beside it.
- It is indeed mistfree, evaporative. The way they approach it is not very efficient but it does work well enough for a small space.
- The control are easy to use and the addition of a sleep mode and timer is nice.
- At the end of the day it does humidify a small room (kids room or bedroom)
- The unit is very easy to clean and maintain.

Con's
- The humidity sensor is poorly placed so when the unit is running the measured humidity is not accurate. In my testing this made the humidistat function unusable. The unit would this the humidity level was reached when indeed it had not. Internal room humidity levels were confirmed with 2 other sensor types so I had levels to compare to.
- The way the top and bottom nest together allows for some warm-air bypass. They really need a small venturi on the fan inlet to make it more efficient.
- The control is easy to use, but some of the buttons are redundant.
- The using of tap water claim is bogus. If you live in a hard water area, like me, then you'll want to use filtered water. Sure there will be no mineral build up or white dust build up but that is due to the evaporative design, not the water quality. The minerals are still there, they're just being left on the media after the evaporation process instead of going through the air stream.

All in all, I will probably get another one for the second bedroom in my home. With some 3D printed mods I'm happy with the operation at the price point. The operation of the system as-is is probably fine for most users, I just happen to have the tools the measure how well it really works :-). Perhaps the smart version that includes the humidity sensor is better but I don't want to mess with another app.

I've had several types of humidifiers over many years and this is the one I like best. The older ones have a filter that you have to replace all the time. And the fans inside get dusty and they're really hard to clean. The last 2 years I've used the kind that leaves a white film on everything, and I mean everything, i.e., walls, floors, anything on top of tables, glasses, lamps, etc. If you have white painted walls, that's okay. But any other color and you'll have to wipe them all down at the end of winter. I have this one in my bedroom. I read the reviews and most negatives can be resolved if you read the instructions. And I love the fact that you can machine wash the filter. I have a small gadget on my bedside table that shows the temperature and humidity. It almost always shows the same humidity level as this machine across the room. I would and HAVE recommended this humidifier.

I love this gadget! I use it in my guitar room (about 250 square feet) instead of having to purchase multiple in-case humidifier packets, which can be pretty pricey.
