Effortless Sharpness – A Game Changer for Kitchen Knives!

As someone who has struggled for years with traditional sharpening stones, often resulting in more frustration than truly sharp blades, this electric knife sharpener has been an absolute revelation. My previous attempts rarely achieved more than a "level 0.7" on my personal sharpness scale, leaving much to be desired.
For context, my empirical sharpness scale is as follows:
* Level 1: Slices ripe tomatoes with minimal effort.
* Level 2: Effortlessly slices slightly damp paper towels. (Shaving arm hair is also roughly this level. Razor sharp.)
* Level 3: A piece of hair falls onto the edge and is cleanly sliced by gravity alone (magically sharp).
With this sharpener, the transformation was almost instantaneous. In just about 60 seconds (following the recommended 10 seconds per side across the three grit levels), my kitchen knives went from stubbornly dull to incredibly precise. The ultimate test? Effortlessly slicing paper-thin tomato slices – a solid "level 1.8" on my scale, and a feat I honestly didn't know was achievable for my knives outside of a professional sharpening service. It didn't quite reach a true "level 2" razor sharp edge, but it's remarkably close and more than sufficient for all culinary tasks.
I also put it to the test with my ceramic knives. I was thoroughly impressed by its ability to revive a rather dull ceramic chef's knife, bringing it back to excellent cutting performance. Curiously, I had less success with a short ceramic paring knife, despite multiple attempts. This might be due to the knife's smaller size or specific blade geometry, but it's worth noting.
In summary, this electric knife sharpener is a powerful tool for maintaining sharp edges on both steel and most ceramic knives.
If your current knives are struggling to cut cleanly and you're tired of manual sharpening frustrations, I highly recommend considering this for your kitchen. It's a worthy investment for anyone seeking consistently sharp, high-performing blades.

Overall a very good product. It took a little practice to get an even bevel on the long blades, but I sharpened all my knives and they turned out great. Only two complaints that are keeping this from being a five star product. First, on chefs knives, the handle is very close to the blade and when using the slots on the outsides, the handle would hit on the frame of the sharpener making it difficult to get the right angle and the start of the blade in the slot. Second, the motor seems a little weak as other reviewers noted, I agree and hope that it lasts for the long haul. My knives were very dull! I have used the pull through cheap sharpeners in the past and they might be good at keeping a sharp knife sharp, but I could never get them to make a very dull knife sharp again. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this sharpener can actually take an extremely dull knife and make it razor sharp. It did take quite a few passes through the coarse slots to get them sharp again. Also, read the directions, at first I was moving the blade too fast through the slot. The sharpener is heavy enough and with good rubber feet so that I didn't need to hold it down while pulling a blade through.

Just received my sharpener less than an hour ago and couldn’t wait to try it out. My first try was an older knife that hadn’t been sharpened in over 4 plus years. It took several passes but it was extremely dull. After 25 passes each side o all three areas it cut like butter. Then on to my Made In knives..again not be sharpened in about 2 to 3 years since purchase (other than an unsuccessful attempt with whetstone). The duller ones took about 15 passes and not so dull about 10 passes but even my steak knives cut like butter! I am very pleased and can now do daily or weekly up keep along with my honing rod.
Hopefully it will hold up with time because I don’t want to be without it ever again. This will make prep and cooking more enjoyable.
I spent several days reading everything and anything I could on electric sharpeners. For a person at my mature age trying to handle the whetstone wasn’t going to cut it. I have osteoarthritis as well so this appliance is awesome.i will post again in time to say how it has held up.
