I have been a Keto believer for years and generally have used Keto strips when I felt the need to confirm I was in ketosis. But my last batch of strips just seemed off as they always said no ketones. So I started a hardcore diet for the past week 8g of carbs a day to ensure I was in ketosis losing weight during that period etc.
Using the strips NO Ketosis...
Ordered this handy little analyzer of Thursday, recieved it on Friday (nice fast delivery 😎).
I immediately popped it open and put in some batteries. Which leads to my only complaint. The battery compartment is hard to open, I had to grab a butter knife to help open it.
Staring the unit is a bit tricky as you have to press the start button for a second or 2 no quick press. I actually prefer this once I figured it out as it will help preserve the battery.
Once started the unit does a 20 second count down to 0 than who breath (not blow) into the unit. My Friday afternoon reading showed 1.4 so as suspected I was in full ketosis!! My Saturday morning reading showed 1.8.
So I now have an accurate (as compared to Keto strips) way to confirm Ketosis. This is important as I will now adjust my carb level higher to allow a wider range of foods to ensure I get the right micronutrients while maintaining my macros.
I highly recommend this unit, as the blow pieces seem to be snug enough, the unit appears to be accurate, it has an easy to read display with color coding for ease of use, auto shut off for battery life, and a nice simple draw bag to hold the machine.
