I've used it several times every day for a year and it works great. The only downside is that it doesn't automatically shut off when the water boils like other kettles do. It's also quite hard to clean the inside. But it's a durable kettle as we have used it extensively and it's still going good. I recommend this product.

Nope. There was no base in the box.
The kettle is not constructed for a base.
The kettle has a socket for plugging in a power cord. The socket is configured for an unknown country, certainly no place in North America, or any place l have been in Western Europe. Whn l was a kid, electric kettles had a socket for the cord, but l have not seen one for over 50 years.
The kettle is also tiny—even smaller than l thought. Maybe a cup and a half.
And Proctor Silex will take no responsibility for any part of this.
They are scum. I am so angry.
Yes, l returned for credit, but that is not the issue.
I went out and bought a Betty Crocker one, from a store. It works.
Update. Proctor Silex will not take responsibility for this product. They claim they are not the seller.
The seller, whoever they were, delivered a sealed package, on time.
Proctor Silex. Send form letters.
So, they have no intention of giving any acknowlgment of the problem, let alone taking ownership of the product.
Company can be termed “flaky” to put it politely.

I have already sent one kettle back, due to 3 inch power cord. This is the second.

I recently destroyed a look-a-like kettle by turning it on dry! This one is supposed to have circuitry to shut itself down incase of a dry kettle inadvertently being turned on. That is good if it works. I am not about to test it! Otherwise it works as intended and I conclude with a tip for users: These two piece kettle are light and when lifting the reservoir half off the electrical base the base tends to hang on, and off the edge of the counter, perhaps I took a foot long length of sticky duct tape, folded it in half and looped it (an ersatz double-sided tape deal) and then placed the looped tape on the bottom of the base -- sight unseen. Now the base doesn't go wondering off when I separate the top half. Works splendidly! ... Red (Green) would be proud of me.

Would I like a larger capacity. Sure. Would I like a stainless steel or glass interior. Sure. Would I like that no element touches the water. Sure. Sadly, I tried about 4 of that style electric kettle and every one failed in some way, including dangerous burning of the wiring. So far, this product works well and scale hasn't appeared on the heating element. I also like the modest power draw, I don't believe in 1500 WATT devices on what could be a 15 AMP circuit. Even a 20 AMP one. Your mileage may vary. I advise caution when using any of these electric kettles.

The plastic feels surprisingly nice and durable for the price, and it boils quickly. I just wish the base it sits on was a little heavier so it wouldn't move when I lift the kettle. I took away a star because it arrived with black scuff marks that I was able to wipe off along with a few scratches.
Overall, I think it's a good product for one or two people and worth it for the low price.
