The Coarse grinding discs are great for grinding grainy results like burger patties or jam.
The fan-shaped grinding disc is suitable for grinding vegetables, garlic, peppers, ginger, onions, etc.
The kidney-shaped grinding disc is suitable for grinding lumps of raw meat into minced meat for making sausages.

There are also two different sizes of stuffing tubes for making different sized sausages: the small 0.45-inch diameter tube makes breakfast sausage; the large 0.68-inch diameter tube is perfect for Italian sausage.

In the past I've made a lot of sausage with a hand grinder (old #22). This attachment fit and worked flawlessly on our 6 qt. stand Kitchenaid. Speed at #8 just about the right speed. I chilled the pork for the first grind and should have re-chilled it before the second. I'd chalk up any negative reports to either someone who has never used a grinder before or was expecting a silk purse from a sows ear. Fit and finish were excellent and it worked just as one would expect. The only negative thing I would say is that when the pusher get covered with fat it is hard to hang on to. Yes, go ahead an buy this appliance if your looking for a tool that will last you many years.

It came with every thing one needs for grinding meat.
The tray and feed tubes are thin and not heavy duty.
The grinding plate rusted the first time I washed in the dish washer.
Still I did not dry them, I let them air dry.
