We have a couple of folks in our household who like to both paint and draw, so when I saw this sketchbook 2-pack I wanted to give it a try. The 60-page sketchbooks are a good size and the textured paper handles both wet and dry media very well, making it an excellent option. The sketchbooks each have a thick cardboard back cover and a thinner, though still sturdy, front cover. The spiral bounding means the books open up full and lay flat on your work surface. The 9in x 12in workable area (the sheets are a bit wider than 9in, so the final size is based on what's left when you remove a page from the book) is a nice size - big enough to give room for good size sketches and artwork, but not so big as to be unwieldy to transport. The paper is slightly textured, which I prefer, but if you're looking for a smooth surface to work on this isn't the right product for you. We tried this with a mix of pencil, pen, and watercolours and all performed well. Each sheet is thick - 185 g/meter squared - so for the pens and watercolours there was no noticeable bleeding, and certainly no bleed through from one sheet to another. The pencil also worked well, though again it's a textured surface so that does alter the way the pencil performs on the paper. Overall, a nice 2-pack of sketchbooks. I especially appreciate the perforations that make it easy to remove used sheets from the book. The cost is on par with other products, and when there is a discount as there is now, it makes it even more economical. Therefore, if you're looking for a good quality sketchbook that works with wet media this makes a great option.
