  • Gently shake and separate the blades.

Prepping the Chicken

Remove any neck parts and gizzards. Rinse the whole chicken, inside and out and pat dry with paper towels. Place the chicken, breast-side down, on a cutting board.

First, cut along the right of the backbone from the tail to the neck. Next, cut along the left side of the backbone, just as you did on the right side.

Keep the shears clean and dry after use

  • Wash the blades throughout after separating
  • Get a clean cloth and wipe down the blades
  • Dry the blades in the open air
  • Contact with other metal dulls the blades, so don’t throw them in your utensil drawer. A knife block is a perfect place to store the shears. If they don’t fit in the block, keep them in a separate drawer away from the other utensils.
