This is the 3rd pair that I bought and even if I am using 3 pairs simultaneously now ( 1 unit is connected to the router, 4 units to computers and 1 unit to 4K TV), it did not diminish the speed of my internet. I bought this because my two daughters were always disconnected from their on-line class via WIFI and their rooms have weak signal. I conducted a speed test using Shaw speed test tool. My internet average speed using WIFI on 2.4G is 17 Mbps download and 12.6 Mbps upload and 30Mbps download and 15Mbps on 5G. But we often used the 2.4G because our 5G is not stable. With D-Link DHP-701AVPower Line AV2 2000 Gigabit Starter Kit (Renewed), my internet average speed is now at 110 Mbps +-5 download and 15 Mbps +-2 upload. My internet speed improves by almost 6X. My kids are so happy that they no longer experience disconnection from their on-line class. We are currently on the 300 Mpbs plan with Shaw and before we are thinking of shifting to 750 plan or the 1000 plan. But I think, we will forego that plan for the time being as we have a stable and faster connection now with the powerline solution. It is also quite easy to set-up.

I really take offence to these being marketed as even 1Gbp/s. It is probably telling that they ship with Cat5 cables (100Mb/s for short distances) which is a more realistic speed. In my test, on opposite ends of a small, old house with a patchwork of 1950s and 1970s wiring, I got 30Mb/s from two grounded outlets on different circuits. They do seem to somewhat adapt, so a later test reached the dizzying heights of 32Mb/s, but for reference, my cellphone got 68Mb/s in the same location using Wifi. The reason to buy these isn't because they're faster than Wifi. They aren't. Rather, they are much more reliable, and related to that, you'll usually get better latency at low loads, as it won't have to wait for a packet to fail, then resend. That said, this is a pretty brutal test-result, and while I'm going to try them a few more times, but if I can't even get 60Mb/s, I might just return them.

I will say, you won't find a 'booster' or repeater that is easier to setup. You can just plug them in, although its a good idea to press the button on both so they generate a new encryption key and re-pair.

Update: I once reached 40Mbps before returning them. Still haven't got my refund (probably �鶹��'s fault, that) but my previous review stands. This is a great way to get some sort of reliable internet to far corners of a house, especially in a crowded area. It is not fast, but the usability for basic things (or sometimes even gaming) is better in those particular contexts than Wifi, especially if the antenna or chipset isn't stellar. That said, the lack of great speed improvement (IMHO) with these MIMO models at the further ranges where it really matters, means that people with more modest requirements could probably save a few dollars and buy one of those instead.

Mind you that the 1000Mbps are never MByte, but Mbit instead, so getting ~800kbps transmit and ~200kbps receive on the machine are pretty much as fast as you can get. I'm in a house where my router is located in the basement and my other end is on the 2nd Floor. Will perform more tests to ensure the devices are good before opening the 2nd set to get all 4 units to work together. (Also to ensure that they're secured).

Will update again soon with more details, but so far I like them and I'd say they're as advertised. (There will never be 2Gbps connection because they're on a Gig port, so yes, an average 30-35Mbyte of transfer rate is normal to my believe).

The effectiveness of the product seems to depends on the length of power cable it has to run through, which makes sense but power cable being much bigger than comm cables, I wasn't expecting this system having a hard time inside a single house. I purchased this in order to cover an area where I had poor WiFi and I can't get the system to work because of what's mentioned above. I tried in multiple outlet, each one getting closer the router and I can only get a reliable signal in the same room (or same electrical breaker circuit).

The main problem and the reason why I give this a 1 star is that nowhere was this advertised and it turns out to be a waste of money for me.
