    For 25 years I have kept a bottle of Potassium Iodide in my medicine chest. I live JUST outside the "safety zone"of Ontario's Pickering Nuclear Power plant. Residents within a certain perimeter from the plant are issued bottles of potassium iodide capsules by their municipalities. Because I live JUST outside that perimeter, but I have a son, d-i-l and grandkids who live within the zone, who I visit, I have to purchase my own tablets, for my OWN protection. This is my go-to bottle for my bug out bag and for weekly use. I take one capsule every 4 days just to maintain a resistance to any nuclear fallout, as well as to maintain good iodine and potassium levels. I do apply a few milligrams of liquid iodine to the crook of my elbow daily for added protection. Every First Aid kit should have a bottle of potassium iodide in it!

    The recommended dose for preventing uptake of radioactive iodine is 16mg from birth - 1 month old, 30mg for 1 month - 3years old, 64mg from 3 years old up to 150lbs, and if you're over 150lbs you should take 130mg. These tablets are 800mcg, which is only 0.8mg, so you'd need to take 163 of them to get one adult dose, which you should take every day. These pills are just iodine supplements for health.

    The iodine capsules help with your immune system , especially with the proper functioning of the Thyroid gland. Also it helps preventing mucus.
    A good Canadian made supplement, but the name should be changed as it sounds a lot worse than it is.
