While this potassium bicarbonate powder has a lot of uses for baking, I use it as a potassium supplement for in my homemade electrolyte mix. It doesn’t have a noticeable taste and works well for this purpose.

Well packaged and box marked with a best before date. Good for gardening as an effective and natural fungicide, a low salt leavening ingredient for baking, or a potassium supplement.

...it's BASICALLY baking soda. It is and does what you expect. So there isn't much to say to that. Works well for baking of course. I did also get this, however, because I've always watched my granny eat some of this while growing up whenever she had heartburn. I remember trying it back then out of sheer curiosity and finding it awfully strange and that sensation hasn't changed. I basically just take a small spoon of this and wash it down with water right away just like she did. Kind of a fun way to remember her, but thankfully I don't have to do it often since heartburn is (at least so far) not THAT big of a part of my life (knock on wood!). So for the time being, this will mostly do its job for baking for me.
Also gotta add that I do follow a lower carb diet and do need more potassium for that reason so this seemed like a better option vs sodium bicarbonate. It's easy to add salt, duh. Not as easy to add potassium, so it at least feels like I'm adding some level of extra nutrition in my low carb cookies and such.
5.0 out of 5 starsDo I win for most unusual use - mitigating heartburn?

I employed this potassium bicarbonate in a way that may be different than most. I get heartburn frequently. I usually use sodium bicarbonate - baking soda - for relief. There are some side effects of using the sodium salt that aren't great. Swapping over to potassium bicarbonate has been an effective way to tackle my heartburn while avoiding excess sodium.
I can hear someone reading this review asking "Why doesn't he just take X for heartburn?" and I can say that higher calcium intake causes me more problems than sodium intake, and I'm usually low on potassium anyway. The maintenance stuff for prevention also prevent some of my other medication from being absorbed properly.
1/8 teaspoon mixed in 6-8oz of water has been doing the trick for me. I may need a second go on occasion. It knocks it out fast.

Potassium bicarbonate, folks! Who knew this was such a versatile little thing? I mean, it’s food grade, which means you can, you know, bake with it, leaven things, and make lovely cookies! Cookies, we love cookies, don’t we? I know I do. And you can use this stuff for other things too. Like, you can use it on plants! Who'd have thought? It's helpful to have it around. Just in case, you know? For your plants. Your beautiful, normal plants.
I mean it’s just useful. Very useful. It also makes a fantastic cleaning agent, I’m sure. The powder looks lovely and it feels just like you'd expect it to. Plus, it comes in a nice, compact container, perfect for storing in a… a cupboard… or other places that hold things…for when you need it. Totally normal! Another five-star purchase. Stocking up on these is just, you know, good practice.
