    J'aime le genre Western, et celui-ci est original par le sujet traité. Tel est pris qui croyait prendre... et de manière magistrale.
    Le shériff (Kirk Douglas destestable à souhait), ambitieux politique sans borne et extrêmement sûr de lui, qui se fait prendre, ridiculisé et mis plus bas que terre par son prisonnier (Bruce Dern admirable à souhait).
    Un retournement de situation spectaculaire qui montre que l'on ne doit jamais sous estimer un adversaire et ainsi vendre la peau de l'ours...
    Le complexe de supériorité rend parfois aveugle.
    Shériff à prisonnier : " Je vous croyais plus intelligent que ça !" - Il ne pensait pas si bien dire.
    Autant Bruce Dern est haïssable lorsqu'il tue le "vieux" John Wayne dans "Les Cowboys"; autant on admire son côté malin et détaché lorsqu'il fait subir une honte sans précédent à Kirk Douglas devant les tous habitants de la ville et prend le commandement de ses adjoints (le posse).
