My wife suffered an injury which left her unable to see properly for nearly two years. (Everything was fuzzy and eye glasses didn't help. Scary stuff. -Thankfully, her vision has slowly regenerated and now 90% back to normal). For the first few months, she was effectively blind. Things got better, but it wasn't possible to read anything but huge text.

I got her this reader and cranked the font size. She cried. It allowed her to read again. Yeah, a full page of text was only about 8 lines long, but it was possible.

So.., my positive feelings toward this reader are colored by some emotion, but I think I can objectively say that it's a well engineered device. Solidly built, the screen is gorgeous, the OS isn't buggy nonsense like I've experienced with other readers. Good battery life. It's basically a standard high-quality e-reader. And it's big. And it wasn't nine hundred dollars like all the others at the time I bought it. (Honestly, it was half the price of competitors, and that felt too good to be true. Turns out to have been the exception to that cynical rule. Sometimes something really is that good.)

I will offer one criticism; Personally, I don't like the placement of the physical buttons, (My own little 7" Kobo Libra perfected the ergonomics of the button and the "how-do-I-hold-it?" problem). But my wife doesn't use the buttons, preferring the touch screen feature, so for her it's a non-issue.

In any case, we both love the InkPad Lite.

    Recommended.

The headline's a little misleading, because this is the ONLY large form factor at this price point.

    Pros
    - Half the price of other 10" e-readers
    - Supports more formats (26) than either Kobo or Kindle
    - Standalone Linux kernel isn't tied to DRM sources; in fact you can use it without a wifi connection
    - microSD slot, you can put another 128GB of your library into the reader
    - Not tied to DRM, can run completely without a network connection

    Cons
    - 150ppi is lower than Kobo's 227ppi and Kindles 300ppi
    - No audio book support
    - Note taking support is extremely basic

It's $300 ($270 as a I write this) for a 9.7" ereader. The only real competition for a 10" form factor are the Kobo Elipsa at $499, and the Kindle Scribe at $509.

Given that it's essentially half the price of the others, there are some compromises. First, it's 150ppi resolution, rather than 277ppi (Kobo) or 300ppi (Kindle). Whether that matters will depend on what you do with it. And unlike the Elipsa and Scribe, it's also only an ereader. It doesn't support audio books, and although there is some basic note-taking ability, it's primitive compared to the others.

If you read scientific papers in PDF, and you want to zoom in to graphics, it won't be anywhere near as good as the Scribe is. And if you use really small fonts, they're going to be harder to read. But if you use it to read epub or mobi ebooks, the 150ppi is perfectly fine.

If you're really fussy, you may notice that the backlight is not distributed uniformly over the screen, but that's really only noticeable in very low light conditions.

TLDR: If you're considering it because you have poor vision and want a larger screen than the normal 6" ereader, it's great. If you want to use it for PDF presentation, consider the Elipsa or the Scribe. But if you need to zoom in to PDFs, listen to audio books, or mark up your books and take extensive notes, look elsewhere.

Don’t even try to read detailed images on it, ppi is low and shades are few, BUT as a book reader for people with weak eyes it is the miracle machine. Also it works with 128Gb card, and allows direct actions on it from pc (via usb cable). What more to ask? Just one thing - while books are represented by generated images (at least .fb2) folders aren’t . So any non-latin folders shall be created on the device, and not be moved from windows - encoding issue . I didn’t try but maybe for Mac it will be ok.
Darkmode in default book reader is mediocre at best, but the whole point of the reader is to be like a book, isn’t it? Oh .. and browser works, but better forget about it right away.

This 9.7" E-book reader accept the most e-book formats in the market. Best for side-by-side double page scan book.

It also accept SD card. I have successfully use 128G Sandisk SD card with this reader (you have to format
the SD card in FAT32. I used the free AOMEI's free Partition Manager).

Keeps randomly downloading books I do not want, did not ask for and in languages I don't know. It's infuriating!
The page turning is slow and choppy, the main screen seems more geared to try to push more books you don't want , instead of opening it and going directly to your library as it should, it makes you scroll choppily along past the new releases books to get to your library. I don't know why it can't just go to my library. It's really irritating. However - the battery is nice and long lasting, and the additional memory is a blessing for having a nice big library for long plane rides, relaxing and wishing to switch books to different ones. I love textbooks on particle physics and having multiple large capacity books, with a large screen makes this convenient and bit having to squint and have three paragraphs per page. So the 9 1/2 " screen size is very convenient. Back lighting capability is adequate and functions as should, but cost is high for a choppy and not so fluent scrolling experience.

I really like this e-reader. I don't mind the resolution (some people think it is too low-res for good reading, but I haven't had an issue with it), it is light enough to be comfortable holding with one hand for extended periods (granted I have large hands so it fits my hands well), and the OS/GUI is easy to use. The online book library/sync is easy and reliable. Battery life is great. Backlight is nice. I also really like the physical navigation buttons (power on/off, page forward, page back, and home). The larger screen size is awesome. Sometimes, highlighting text can be cumbersome, so this would not be ideal if you want a ready for frequent/intense note-taking and annotating. For basic reading and some highlighting/bookmarking, this is great. Overall, it's a very nice package. It would be top-notch with a higher resolution display, but it is also fine as it is.

Conexión a internet.
