This pepper spray is handy to have as a last resort in case of an animal attack. It offers a generous amount of spray and a convenient carry case.
I tested the spray itself in my backyard and, while the canister states it will project 35 ft, the actual spray itself only extended to 15 ft. That being said, the mist extended beyond that 15 ft which is precisely how it should work. You are not trying to aim at the attacker directly because that would be too risky and likely fail. The aim is to spray for 3 seconds and create "fog" of sorts as a barrier between you and the attacker. This canister spray is effective in that perspective.
I like that this spray cannot be triggered accidentally. You need to remove the safety clip in order to activate the trigger. I also like that the nozzle can be cleaned, relocked and the canister put away to be used again.
This bear spray is not intended as a first line of defense. If you have never used bear spray before, just remember that you need to have it ready prior to being attacked. Even those few seconds that it takes to pull out the canister, remove it from its case, remove the safety mechanism, align the nozzle and then pull the trigger could be critical. You also have to factor in the direction of the wind. The spray could blow backwards into your face instead of towards the attacker. For those reasons I would use this as a backup plan and not a first line of defense.
There are instructions on the actual canister but the translation into English and incorrect spelling make them difficult to understand so I would educate myself on proper use of this product first and not rely on those instructions.
Overall, as far as a bear spray product is concerned, this one is good. It offers a generous supply of spray, a convenient carry case and provides excellent security features to prevent accidents. 4/5 stars from me
