The player is compact and basic. I like the HDMI feature. However, it would turn on by itself. This was worrisome. The solutions I got from the seller were: a) move the controller away from any other controllers (which didn't work) , and b) unplug it after each use. Of note, the controller is approx 5 inches long, so it is quite tiny.

For a long time now, I’ve been searching for a DVD player that has a “step” function whereby you can freeze a frame and advance frame by frame. I’ve had other DVD players, but this is the first one that’s had that feature, a feature I’ve been searching for. Other DVD players I bought had pictures showing the remote control indicating a step function, but upon receipt of the DVD player, the remote control did not have this function. I must admit I took a chance ordering this DVD player on the basis of the step function showing on the remote control . I was not disappointed. Also, I have a collection of AVI files which previous DVD players were not able to play all the files, giving errors for sound format, etc. This DVD player is able to play all the files without error , I am very very happy with this DVD player. I am almost tempted to purchase a second one in case the one I have now were to fail and I wouldn’t be able to find a replacement. My highest recommendation goes for this DVD player.

the only issue i dont like about it is everytime you turn it on or switch dvds, the subtitles come up on the screen. you then have to scroll through the subtitles list to click them *off*.
that is why i give it 4/5 stars.
