Need to change controller
The console is in good condition with no unusual noises, but the controller is in very bad condition. I can’t charge it properly. I tried connecting it with a cable and resetting it, but it only works for a couple of minutes. That was just enough to connect my PS5 DualSense controller. Can you replace the controller and maybe the cable as well?

    Took a little while to get to me, but eventually received a used PS3 in very good condition, reformatted, works as expected. Included 1 x OEM Sony PS3 controller with mini-USB charging cable, and an HDMI cable. (no Sony OEM RCA PS3 AV connector cable included, but I still have my old one).

    Back in action after my old PS3 sadly died during an update. Very happy!

    I previously had own a PS3 slim and it was one of my favourite owned consoles. There are so many classics such as the Uncharted series, Heavy Rain, Little Big Planet, and Batman Arkham series. The controllers were a big upgrade over the PS2. It was also the first Sony console to have 1080 supported. People don't remember that the first generation PS3s were sold at prices higher than the PS5s.

    I bought a used PS3 to play the games I still have on my PSN account. The condition was described as very good. However, the controller and system had significant damages to it. I was pretty disappointed and ended up returning it. I will try again if I see one on 鶹 for a good price.

    Bought a ps3 through you guys earlier this week and the ps3 controller you sent does not hold a battery charge, hence the name wireless remote, also the ps3 you sent was not restored from the previous owners system, plus the fan gets loud and doesn’t shut off until you shut off the system. This was “labeled very good” out of all the used PlayStations you were selling. Would like a new remote and I would expect better from Sony or whoever is sending these as is.

    I’ve been playing games on this for a few days, so far so good. It’s unfortunate that some people got defective consoles.. not sure how that happened. Mine luckily got to me in working condition with a functional controller. Plays discs and digital copies with no issue. Delivery was fast for me.

    My only complaint rn is it does take a while to load things up in general. Maybe I’m just used to how fast modern consoles load, but you do have to be patient with it sometimes.

    The online store is still up as of May 2025 which is kinda crazy. You can still buy from a big catalog off the store, including a lot of old classics like the original RE games, Silent Hill games, GOW, etc. They might stop online services for the PS3 soon so I’d recommend getting some of these while you can, cause the disc version of a lot of these older games are super expensive.

    So yeah it’s great so far. I love old PS consoles so this thing is taking me on a huge nostalgia trip. If there’s any issues I run into later, I’ll come back to change this review.

    Previously owned an 80GB first generation PS3 that developed an eject disk problem and so it was wiped and passed on to a friend who felt confident in taking it apart and messing with it to repair. Meanwhile we upgraded to the new 160 GB.

    We seldom if ever game anymore. We use the PS3 to stream Netflix, watch blue ray movies, and view photo slideshows on a larger screen than the computer. This is why we opted for the 160 GB model. If we were gaming a lot still we'd probably go with the larger.

    This new Playstation streams Netflix very very smoothly and I'd say loads better than the old one did. The old model seemed to seize up/have to do a lot of "loading". I at first thought it was our internet service despite its being 10 mbps and pinging/speed testing at those speeds routinely. This is what tech support for your streaming service and device (not your ISP's support!) will insist is your problem. "It is clearly due to the quality of the service from your ISP, we detect no problems on our end" blah blah blah.

    Then I chalked it up to Netflix itself being crappy or having a lot of demand on its servers/peak times.

    But since we have started using the new PS we have not had a Netflix seize up and when loading does occur it is really fast, happens maybe 3 times at most and not back to back, and does not cause a seize up which it often did on the old PS. In fact repeated back to back "loading" was a sign of imminent seize. So I'm now leaning to it being a device issue, sorry Sony. Please note that on both models we have had virtually nothing saved on the hard drive and I at one point completely wiped and reset the old PS HD to factory and went thru set-up all over again, fresh and clean so we know that is not the problem.

    It also loads up blue ray DVD's, firmware upgrades, and blue ray data upgrades a whole lot faster than the old model. So again I gotta think it is the device, the new model's processor is much improved.

    Other pluses:
    The dull coating on the outside is not a dust and fingerprint magnetic like the old model.

    It seems to run a lot cooler than the old model. Heat is never good for electronics!

    It's smaller and lighter than the old model.

    It's not as noisy as the old model.

    Only cons:
    HDMI cable falls out the back somewhat easily. If you have sound but a black screen - take a peek and see if the cable fell out. Duh. This has been the case for us twice now, usually after someone has cleaned/dusted around the PS.

    Wish 鶹 and Sony would get together so we could stream from Prime to the PS3!!!!!!
