This is one of those gadgets that genuinely surprised me—in the best way. I picked up this ELEC3 Galaxy Projector thinking it might be a fun nighttime distraction, maybe a quirky gift for a family member who’s hard to shop for. Instead, it’s ended up in regular use, creating an atmosphere somewhere between “spa retreat” and “NASA observation lounge.” If that sounds like a strange combo, well... welcome to my room.

The features on this thing are a bit like Swiss Army knife meets the Milky Way: Bluetooth speaker, alarm clock, white noise machine, meteor animation, and a pretty solid digital display. The remote is intuitive enough to handle most functions without getting up (which is, let’s face it, a top-tier feature at bedtime). And while I’ve seen a few projector gadgets like this, the optics here are a notch above. The images are large, vivid, and gently rotate across the ceiling. Kids love it. Adults love it. Honestly, even the dog doesn’t seem to mind it—and that’s saying something.

My Rubric

My star ratings, which tend to skew upward due to limitations in the 5-star system, are further elaborated in a decimalized scoring at the end of the review.

Finally, although some items have been freely offered via the Vine system, I refuse to sell out and will never allow a vendor to influence my scoring through any means other than the quality of the product, both on its own and in relation to the current pricing at the time of my review. I value the efforts of other honest reviewers and wish nothing more than to pay their efforts forward in hopes of faithfully guiding others to informed decisions.

The Good
✅ Wide projection area – Easily fills a room with light and color, even on tall ceilings
✅ Remote and timer – Makes evening wind-downs smooth and convenient
✅ White noise and alarm features – Surprisingly well-rounded for a “star lamp”
✅ Fun meteor animation – Little shooting stars that add a lovely, playful touch
✅ Built-in Bluetooth speaker – Works better than expected for ambient sound or music

The So-So
➖ Film quality is serviceable but not museum-level – Younger users likely won’t care, but some slides are softer than others
➖ Interface could use refining – Button symbols and some menu functions take a little time to figure out
➖ Some features (like the weather readout) feel tacked-on and not always accurate

The Not-Good
❌ Light brightness could be a bit higher for larger rooms – It's relaxing, not blazing

The Details
There’s something oddly therapeutic about watching a swirling nebula on your ceiling while a faint rainstorm sound plays in the background. The projector comes with 13 different “galaxy film” discs, ranging from planetary close-ups to a dreamy undersea landscape. It’s easy to swap between them, and most of them are quite nice—though a couple seem printed at lower resolution. Still, it’s not a deal-breaker, especially when you’re using it to relax or help a child doze off.

The speaker is perfectly usable for light background music or white noise. It pairs easily over Bluetooth and doesn’t hiss or distort, which is about all I’d ask of a built-in speaker in a mood lamp. I especially like the meteor animation, which happens intermittently and adds a bit of whimsy to the experience. While this might look like a kid's gadget at first glance, it's absolutely something adults can enjoy, especially those of us who remember falling asleep to lava lamps or listening to whale song CDs in the ‘90s.

This thing is brilliant. I don't like the way stand is designed. I feel very clumsy and clunky to try to put it on the stand and God forbid you bump into it cause it will knock over. Just it's a very poor design form factor. There is 1 million ways that they could've designed the outside of this and made it less clumsy

But everything else is truly top-notch. It's very bright, there are moving meteors, it comes with plenty of scenes, you can change the colors, it does white noise… They really thought of everything. Except for a course a better way to stand it up on your furniture but at this point I'm nitpicking because they're still getting five stars

It is fairly easy to get the projector to project a large image - simply plug it in and hit the power button if needed
The interface for the white noise, clock timer, etc.. is a bit confusing but they include a fairly good guide with a list of what all the buttons do
The planetarium can project large images that will cover your entire ceiling. The projector will also rotate the images and you can even have “shooting stars” which the kids had a ton of fun trying to spot them first and count them
There is a fairly large number of images you can try out, including some great images of the moon, earth, other planets in the galaxy, and even an under water image
The biggest complaint is that the film prints are fairly low quality which take away from an overall good projector experience. However, the young kids think it is really cool so I’ll give it 4 stars for the enjoyment we have been sharing the galaxy with them.
