- Reviewed in Canada on November 4, 2024Verified PurchaseMy daughter experienced Orange shirt day for the very first time this year. Ever since then she has been quite interested in the First Nation’s culture, asking me so many questions that I have no answers to. This book helped me a-lot, she read it and now understands the story behind ‘every child matters’ ‘orange shirt day’, especially what a residential school is.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 14, 2023Verified PurchaseI am the Truth and Reconciliation Ambassador working at a College in Ontario Canada so I purchased the book so that it could be read publicly during our events. I loved it so much, I ended up buying a second copy to keep at home, giving my first copy to a fellow indigenous mother. There isn't enough out there about the residential schools so I am so happy to see it being talked about more, because we will never be forgotten
- Reviewed in Canada on November 13, 2023Verified PurchaseI bought this book to help explain truth and reconciliation day to my young kids (3-5) and the importance of/meaning behind wearing orange. I think it was a really impactful book for young readers and a great way to help them understand.

Verified PurchaseThis book is well written and age appropriate. I purchased it to read at the child development centre I work for, with 3 year olds and it was well received.

- Reviewed in Canada on April 3, 2024Verified Purchasegood book, not too sad for the kids
- Reviewed in Canada on September 20, 2021Verified PurchaseI loved that the story has a rhyming scheme and the illustrations are beautiful! I read the story to two of my grandkids (ages 5 &6) so far and had the opportunity to explain some of the concepts. They found it difficult to imagine going to school in the fall and not going home again until summer. When they are older I will be able to explain more of the ongoing repercussions of this horrible part of Canadian history.
