    I installed this Philips Hue Secure Contact Sensor on my bathroom door to work in tandem with my motion sensor lighting, and it solved an issue I didn’t even know had a clean fix. Before, the lights would turn on automatically when someone entered—but because no one ever used the switch, they’d stay on until the motion timer ran out. Not ideal, especially when hosting.

    Now, with the contact sensor installed, the lights turn off as soon as the door is closed and remain off until it’s opened again. It’s been a subtle but meaningful upgrade that’s particularly helpful for guests and older family members who appreciate not fumbling for a switch. The system feels more responsive and intentional.

    I’m sure there are tons of other creative ways to use this sensor, but even just in this one application, it’s already proving its value. If you entertain often or have aging family in your home, this is a quiet workhorse that will elevate your setup.

    This is certainly 5 star worthy. I have one annoyance. There’s a button on it that SHOULD be enabled to switch the light on or off. Instead, I have to shut and open the door again to trigger the timer for the light.
