    Paired with a few Lily’s for uplighting.

    The cables are durable and easy to connect, way better than the flimsy low-voltage wire and attachments I had used before.

    Super easy to add to Hue and then to HomeKit. Independently controllable and no need for a single transformer where the controls are managed.

    Ordered this: Philips Hue Impress Outdoor Pedestal Light (Low-volt), (400 x 100†mm) - to go into a tiny home build we are doing this spring. My review is based on an inspection of the product and my experience with the brand as an electrician.

    Let me just start by saying I have installed and used a ton of lighting products over the years and can say without reservation that Phillips hue products are top of the line. They are professionally branded, have great support, ALWAYS UL listed and are constructed with top of the line materials. I have installed the hue strip lights in doctors offices with great results. Also their programming and integration on the app/home automation is far better and more professional than the competition.

    The drawback? The premium nature of the product demands a premium price point. You can get the job done with cheaper products... in my sons room yeah I ran off brand strip lights, diffuser and cheap generic controller. It works for a teenager, but for a high end home the ease of use and quality... from the control to the COB LED's being individually visible it doesn't compare to what Phillips hue can do.

    If you can afford it and want top of the line integration, quality and support this is the best choice on the market.

    The pedestal light, produces a seamless range of color and does require a proprietary power supply connector. You can get them from third parties but why would you do that if you are springing for a item at this price point. You do need a hue bridge to leverage all the smart features and automation with other devices.

    Any electrician/builder/AV guy lucky enough to be installing this product will be stoked, and so will you as a homeowner when you see how easy and customizable the product is.

    Finally I know some reviewers on vine have a reputation for writing 'changed my life' reviews on suspect products. I write a lot of poor reviews when a product does not live up to the listing details. These products are like buying a luxury car, is the value there for everyone no... but for those in the market for the best automated whole home LED products Phillips Hue is what I would recommend. I consider myself quite lucky to have been given the opportunity to review one.

    To start, the contemporary sleekness of this light is impeccable and the construction is excellent, as I’ve experienced with other Phillips lighting products. The clean lines are a perfect complement to our contemporary home and garden design.
    We already had a smart hub, and it was a breeze to add this light to our exciting setup. If you don’t have one, be sure to get the V2, as V1 is no longer getting updates or bug fixes.
    The light is quite bright on its own, but easy to dim and change to any color under the rainbow with a voice command or through the app. When it’s in sync with the others on our deck, the low key, warm ambiance it out of this world! We’ve tried other cheaper lights in the past, but always regretted it and ended up paying more in the long run having to replace them.
    This gorgeous light is well worth it if you’re already have or are ready to invest in the Phillips Hue system.

    WARNING! This won't work without a Hue Bridge ($40) + Low Voltage Power Supply ($55), so you'll need to spend another $100 before you can even use this. In their defense, if they didn't do this, it would have increased the price significantly per unit, so it makes sense why it'll only work once you have the base system. Once it does work, it's amazing. Hue lights install very quickly, work with homekit, and they are aesthetically pleasing. if you're using it with a motion sensor, there's never any issues with them. I really like this system, but I'm not a fan of the price point. At a minimum I would need to spend around $500 to get 2 pedestal lights setup. The low voltage cables are thinner than I would have liked. My only fear is that over the years it'll get damaged making the entire until useless. The good thing is they use an extension cable so depending on where the damage is it might be cheap to fix. Given that this is the Hue ecosystem it'll still end up being very popular. If you've used hue before, you'll know it's not as bright as I would like, but for an outside light at night, that might be okay.

    The Philips Hue Impress Outdoor Light adds serious style to the deck. Setup was smooth once I got the bridge connected, and now I can change the color from my phone or through Alexa. The low-voltage setup was less intimidating than I thought, and the light it puts out is soft and atmospheric. Great for night hangs.
