works. Took quite a struggle to get a filter off on boat. It dented the can quick a bit getting it off. One huge plus is this can be turned from virtually any angle, the downside is unless you have a pretty perfect angle it tends to slip and deform before gripping.

Perhaps ill try and wrap a sleeve of an old car tube around the filter first. What I like is its very compact in the toolbox and will fit a variety of large filters. The advantage of the jar opener type filter tools is you can wrap it around an exhaust elbow without having to slip it over -

Im happy with the purchase, was cheap and will last a very long time due to its simplicity. No relying on cheap crimps/rivets to do any work, the nylon seat belt material is probably strong enough to lift a motorcycle as well -

5 stars because of price/reliability/simplicity - this wont fail you if ur in a spot, and the belt is replaceable should u accidentally burn a hole thru it -

Used with a 1/2 inch drive ratchet and a long punch. After just trying to use it with the ratchet, I figured out what the hole in the tubing was for. It took only a couple of minutes to get off the crushed and punchered filter with this tool. Put the punch through the hole so it doesn't unwind the strap as you advance the ratchet and you can use it to tighten the grip at the same time.

great product! when i first got this, i thought it was going to break on the first use. but, it actually stretched the band on it as i turned it and brought the filter right off. this is the easiest to use filter band wrench i have found, it deosn't get your knuckes busted by trying to get a handle up in the tight spot these filters are often in. simply use a 1/2 inch ratchet and extension and you can get leverage to break those stubborn ones loose!
