    I had read the original series, and I love it...I would choose both Percy and Harry Potter, for my top 10 fantasy series.

    I had wanted to see the movie when it was in theaters, but it went out, so I'd waited 'til it came out on DVD. I'd watched it and I thought it was really awesome; I did not like some of the negativity on it. The film (as you all know), is about teenage Percy Jackson who seem to be an ordinary teen; until after a monster attack at the museum (a Fury disguised in his English teacher), he found out he is a son of the sea god Poseidon. And have been accused of stealing Zeus' master lightning bolt, he finds himself caught between angry and battling gods, he and his friends embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true lightning thief, save his mom, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves.

    So anyway I really love this film; even if there were changes to the characters.

    Ich muss gestehen, dass ich erst jetzt in anderen Rezensionen gelesen haben, dass es sich bei Percy Jackson, ähnlich wie bei Harry Potter, um eine Buch-/Romanverfilmung handelt.
    Das hatte natürlich den Vorteil, dass ich der Blu-ray und dem Film ziemlich unvoreingenommen begegnen konnte. Ich kann nicht sagen, ob er dem Buch nahe kommt, oder nicht, aber was ich sagen kann, ist, dass ich mit Percy Jackson einen tollen Film und eine noch bessere Blu-ray in Händen halte.
    Als Fan der alten griechischen Mythen und Götter, kommt man hier voll auf seine Kosten. Gepaart mit einem modernen Teenie-Film, und einige Stars gut plaziert "drübergestreut" (u.a. Pierce Brosnan, Sean Bean, Uma Thurman), ergibt dies für mich einen wirklichen Überraschungshit.
    Kurz zur Handlung:
    Die Brüder Zeus (Sean Bean) und Poseidon (Kevin McKidd aus der Serie Rom) liegen sich, wie so oft, in den Haaren. Jemand hat Zeus Blitz gestohlen. Dieser vermutet Poseidons Sohn und Halbgott Percy Jackon hinter diesem Frevel und erklärt Poseidon den Krieg, falls der Blitz nicht zurückgebracht wird.
    Percy, seines Zeichen nichts ahnender High School Schüler, wird seit diesem Zeitpunkt von allerlei Wesen verfolgt, weil alle "Welt" :) ihn als Besitzer des Herrscherblitzes vermutet. Sein Lehrer (Pierce Brosnan) schickt ihn daraufhin, gemeinsam mit seinem Freund, in ein Schülercamp, das sich aber als Trainingslager für Halbgötter entpuppt. Halbgötter gibt es nämlich nicht wenige, denn die Götter wandeln nicht selten auf Erden und hinterlassen ihre "Spuren".
    In diesem Trainingscamp tummeln sich, wie gesagt, viele mehr und weniger erfahrene und ausgebildete Halbgötter, darunter auch die schöne Tochter der Athene. Und man erkennt schnell, dass der ein oder andere Lehrer und Freund, sich im Camp ebenfalls als etwas anderes entpuppt, als ursprünglich vermutet.
    Gemeinsam mit seinen Freunden macht sich Percy auf, seine von Hades entführten Mutter zu suchen, da auch dieser großes Interesse am Blitz seines Bruders Zeus hat. Gleichzeitig soll natürlich der Krieg im Olymp und somit Schlimmeres auf Erden zu verhindert werden.

    Man darf bei dem Film nicht vergessen, dass es sich um einen Teenie-Abenteuer-Film handelt, und so sollte man ihn auch betrachten. Bei der Handlung lassen sich sicher einige Kritikpunkte anbringen (wie schon in anderen Rezensionen gelesen - Eingang zum Olymp ist der Aufzug im Empire State Building, der Eingang zur Unterwelt, passender Weise in Hollywood :) - Las Vegas hätte auch gepasst ;) ).
    Wenn man Filme hasst, in denen Jugendliche die großen Helden sind, sollte man Percy Jackson auf jeden Fall meiden. Da ist man vielleicht mit Kampf der Titanen besser bedient.

    Fazit:
    + Percy Jackson bietet flotte Teenie-Aktion, die kaum langweilig wird.
    + Die Effekte sind hervorragend, da hat man sich wirklich nicht lumpen lassen! Wirken überhaupt nicht lächerlich, im Gegenteil.
    + Die Geschichte rund um die griechischen Götter, ist gut gelungen. Also wenn man keine Ahnung griechischer Mythologie hat, kann man sogar richtig was lernen.
    + Viele bekannte Schauspieler wurden ebenfalls gut als Götter, Zentauren oder sonstige mystische Gestalten eingebaut. Sie dienen aber nur als gewinnbringendes Beiwerk, die Hauptakteure bleiben nach wie vor die 3 Jungschauspieler Logan Lerman (der Jüngste im Bunde als Percy), Alexandra Daddario (als Tochter von Athena) und der in Wahrheit nicht mehr ganz so Jugendliche Brandon T. Jackson als Satyr.
    + Uma Thurman war echt cool als Medusa, Pierce Brosnan war als Mentor witzig und der aus Matrix bekannte Joe "Cypher" Pantaliano spielte auch herrlich den "Ungustl"-Stiefvater.
    + Die Blu-ray ist technisch fantastisch gelungen! Tolle Bildschärfe, keine Artefakte, toller Sound, auch bei der deutschen Tonspur. So soll eine Blu-ray sein!

    Die wenigen Kritikpunkte:
    - Wie gesagt, bei der Handlung könnte man ein bisschen meckern. Grundsätzlich schliesse ich mich da den anderen Rezensionen an, aber wirklich gestört hats mich nicht. Auch nicht, dass er nicht lange seiner Mutter nachgetrauert hat. Einerseits wars eh klar, dass sie noch lebte, darum hab ich gar nicht eine große Trauerrunde erwartet.
    - Die vielen altbekannten Schauspieler hätte man gern in etwas mehr Szenen gesehen. Besonders Sean Bean kam als Zeus zwar sehr gut rüber, blieb auf auf Grund der wenigen Szenen leider blass.
    - Bei den Extras auf der Blu-ray war zwar man augenscheinlich sehr bemüht. Aber sie wirken künstlich aufgebläht, tlw. sogar ziemlich sinnlos - mehr Schein als Sein. Im Wesentlichen sind es ein paar Featurettes und Deleted Scenes.

    Von mir 4 Punkte für den Film und noch einen oben drauf, weil die Qualität der Blu-ray einfach stimmt!
