- Reviewed in Canada on January 24, 2017This story is full of surprises, action, and courage.
Pax is just a kit when Peter found him. The little fox became a loved pet right away, and lived with his boy contentedly until the war came. Peter had to give up his fox, turn him out into the wild the fox was no longer familiar with, and then go live with his grandfather. Guilt overcomes him, and Peter runs away to find Pax, three hundred miles away. The real adventures begin there. He gets hurt, meets someone who changes his life, and ... all the while Pax is having his own adventures as he waits for his boy to return for him.
This is such a good story!

- Reviewed in Canada on January 3, 2021Verified PurchaseMy eight year old granddaughter said "The story is sad but that sometimes happens in life Grandma." We are reading the story together over skype and it gives us many issues to explore. I would recommend that an adult read this book with the child so the themes can be discussed and an adult can check to make sure that some of the material is not too disturbing.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 25, 2020Verified PurchaseThis story really stands out in my mind. (And I've read an insane number of books since I teach English.) It's one I'd buy for a gift hands down. So lovely
