It also comes with 3 live disks but they're not as good pressing as the Quad in and the album itself. Plus being a big sabbath fan I personally think they coulda used some better live footage that's why it's a 4

- Reviewed in Canada on September 29, 2017Verified PurchaseOf course this is one of Black Sabbath's great classic albums (Paranoid, 1970, can it be that long!), so you already know what the scoop is music-wise. The thing to note (purchased from Â鶹Çø.ca) is this is BLACK vinyl (marked "180 Gram Vinyl") and NOT the limited run Blue vinyl (marked "Limited Edition 180 Gram Blue Vinyl"). The Blue vinyl is no longer in production and has been replaced by the Black version (confusion results from the UPC & Record Catalog # being the same). The great news is the Black and Blue versions are exactly the same in all other respects (180 gram, 2012 Remaster, Gatefold Packaging). Cover art is well reproduced too. Both versions are also made by the well regarded Quality Record Pressings in the US (although their usual gold decal is not applied to the album cover in these cases). Bottom line is this 2016 release (black or blue) is a great premium vinyl record pressing of the classic 70's Paranoid with excellent sound that will delight! Enjoy listening!

5.0 out of 5 stars "THE ROOTS OF HARD ROCK"
Verified PurchasePARANOID (1970) In this album Black Sabbath take their trademarked heavy sound and refine it. "LIKE A STEEL BLADE", they sharpened the edge and used it to lay waste to everything before them.
LYRICS: The subject matter of the album was typically DARK, delving into topics such as supernatural horror, drug use, nuclear war and death which suited the band's bleak, minor-key sound and served to be inwardly terrifying for it's listener
THE SOUND: Paranoid refined Black Sabbath's signature sound -- crushingly loud, minor-key dirges loosely based on HEAVY BLUES ROCK -- and applied it to a newly consistent set of songs with utterly memorable riffs, most of which now rank as all-time metal classics.I mean, this was apparently recorded in 1970, and since I am a big fan of old hard rock music, I can say that no one had production this guitar-accented.
THE TRACKS:
War Pigs: A seven and a half minute monster. The opening riff it's amazingly atmospheric while containing what I consider nearly a perfect melody. A gloomy overture introducing Iommi's guitar tone and some of the best riffs on the album
Paranoid: This a KILLER song whit galloping-speed, That starting gun of a riff, fading into the maddeningly sing-songy melody is the stuff of metal legend. Gotta love that bubbly bass tone and behaved drumming, plus one of Iommi's more fun lead breaks.
Planet Caravan: Is an obviously substance-inspired trip through time and space. Featuring some of the trippiest sounding vocals and an interesting percussion section using bongos, piano, a slower tempo, a quieter mix, and Iommi's constant guitar riff, the song is very calming compared to the rest on this album.
Iron Man: The best CUT of the album, the first riff is one of the most simple but amazing in the metal music. Tony Iommi's awesome guitar vocabulary part throughout, Bill Ward's pulverising drums. The lyrics is about a demonic Iron Man that seeks vengence on the people by killing them
Electric Funeral: Creates the most forbidden atmosphere of any song on this album. Iommi's whining riff begins the song with a creepy tone introducing Osbourne's voice. This song, concerning nuclear warfare, is definitely a classic.
Hand of Doom: Is another HAUNTING song, quiet guitar and bass lines that they awaken the listener to the reality of the results of substance abuse. The lyrics are superb descriptions of doom and death, pain and suffering, addiction and disillusion, and really show where the influences for so many musicians came from.
Rat Salad: Is an interesting instrumental. Showcasing the abilities of both Iommi and Bill Ward, the instrumental has both a BLUESY and a modern (1970s) rock feel.HEAVY RIFFS
Fairies Wear Boots: A lumbering stoner metal classic, the final gem on an album full of them. The lyrics are hilarious, either as a 'harrowing' tale of the stoner who cried wolf(or fairy in this case), or as a biting send-up of the English skinhead movement.

5.0 out of 5 stars N?o levei f¨¦, mas surpreendeu .
Aprovadissimo !
