- Reviewed in Canada on May 13, 2019Verified PurchaseI use this lens on my GH5 for professional video and photo jobs. For the price I was very disappointed, just buy the sigma 16mm if price is an issue for you.
Out of all my lenses this is by far the worse at auto focusing. I know the wider field of view makes it harder because there are so many things in the frame to focus on but it's just unusable. It also looks worse than other lenses when "hunting" for the subject.
I've used it for two photo shoots so far. When the model is back lit their hair looks purple from the chromatic aberration. It does the same thing when shooting video.
The build quality is great and the design matches perfectly with the GH5. I love having the aperature dial on the lens, although it does get moved by accident on occasion.
If You're like me and want that 24mm look and low light capability than you don't have many options. Overall this lens is good. It should be priced around the $800 range. The product was advertised as new but it was not. The box was in terrible condition and all scratched up. Everything had already been opened (buy from another seller if possible).

5.0 out of 5 stars ... this lens but so far it has been a joy to use on my Olympus G85
Verified PurchaseI've only just started using this lens but so far it has been a joy to use on my Panny G85. The autofocus performance is incredible, with no hunting and great accuracy. The resolving detail and micro contrast far outweighs comparable range zoom lenses I have such as the well respected Fuji 18-55 on an APS-C body. The sun and light stars make for a spectacular effect and the lens is well resistant to unwanted flare. My only complaint is not really a complaint, but more of a warning to be prepared that the 1/4000 second shutter speed of the G85 is often just not fast enough in bright settings because of how fast this lens is. For that reason you may want to consider an E-M1 mk 2 or GH5 to get the most out of this lens in bright light. I do wish this was at the $1000 price point but it is rather extraordinary for the money when alternatives are considered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Sharp
Verified PurchaseI've had many digital cameras and lenses over the years - going all the way back to one of the first Casio's that was .5 mega pixel in the late 90s
I've had multiple Canon DSLRs and lenses.(mostly disappointing)
Without a doubt this lens with the Panasonic G9 produces some of the best photos out of the camera without a flash.
It's not cheap - but well worth it

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT GLASS, BUT FALLS SHORT OF TRUE LEICA MAGIC.
Verified PurchaseThis is yet another great Leica lens from Panasonic/Leicas cooperation. It performs great and is capable of some truly great images. It is a special lens, however, I do not believe it is as special as the 42.5mm Nocticron. Where the Nocticron maintains all the magic of true Leica glass, this lens falls a little short... Perhaps 90% of what I would have wanted. It's still a must have on the M43 platform. It would have been nice had Panasonic chosen to include OIS in this lens. At 24mm equivalent it would not have been out of the ordinary to have added this feature.
I purchase this lens through 鶹, and it was fulfilled through 鶹. However, the lens that I received was already opened and items were packed differently than a new lens. Since I had ordered an new item, I promptly returned it. I do plan to get a replacement, but at this time they are backordered, so I will be waiting.
So is it a must have? It's a nice to have, and certainly a top pick if you are very critical and have the money to spare.

5.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic hits another home run with the 12mm f/1.4
Verified PurchaseThis is an amazing fast wide-angle prime for micro four thirds. It is relatively large, heavy, and expensive compared to the Olympus 12mm f/2.0, but but image quality is much better. At f/1.4 its already as good as the Olympus 12-40mm PRO (one of the best 12mm lenses for the micro four thirds mount) and 7-14mm PRO (also very good at 12mm and also splash resistant), but provides noticeably better subject isolation and low-light performance. Highly recommended if you like fast wide-angle primes.
