Tips to Save Time and Money on Your Next Paint Job

Clean Surface and Let Dry

Clean the surface prior to taping and painting with a mild detergent solution and sponge. Rinse the sponge often. Make sure the surface is dry before you apply the tape.

Tape in 1-2 Foot Sections

Tape any areas on your surface you want to keep paint-free. For best results, tear off 1-2 foot lengths of tape for better control and better adhesion to the surface.

Burnish Tape's Edge

Burnish the tape's edge with a plastic tool, like a putty knife or credit card, to ensure the tape is completely flush with the surface to avoid paint bleed.

Remove Tape When Paint is Wet

For best results, remove the tape as soon as you're done painting, making sure to pull slowly at a 45-degree angle. If the paint has dried, score along the painted edge of the tape to avoid pulling back any paint as you remove the tape.

I am making this review because I use this all the time for labeling components and parts at work, I have used several other brands and while some have their strengths, they are all flawed.

This tape is the only tape that:
-adheres to most things cleanly
-easily tearable from the roll without it pulling a weird angle of tape along with it, just tears straight
-easy to write on with Sharpies or other inferior permanent marker brand
-is literally called Painters Mate

I don't use this for house painting so you're all on your own but I have put notes on the walls with these and they have stuck every time.

Utilisé pour repeindre ma maison au complet. Adhérence correcte dans la plupart des cas. Protège bien la surface cachée. Dans certains cas la peinture s'est immiscée sous le ruban car il n'était pas appliqué assez solidement. Se retire moyennement facilement, des lambeaux de ruban restent quand même souvent collés avec de la peinture séchée près de la jonction "ruban-peinture fraîche". Nécessite plusieurs essais pour tout retirer le ruban et parfois même avec une lame.

Celà dit, c'est quand même beaucoup mieux que du simple "masking tape" du magasin du dollar. Beaucoup plus agréable à manipuler. C'est un bon achat si vous prévoyez repeindre une maison ou un appartement complet.

This tape worked well for my use. I was painting the outside of my house and used it to tape off windows and trim while using a paint gun to avoid overspray on those areas. It was peeled off shortly after painting just fine. Just yesterday, TWO full weeks after painting an area, I noticed I missed removing the tape off a 4' area of my shed. Even after all this time, and two weeks of 105F-114F heat indexes, it peeled off easily. It is thin and does tear pretty easy, but it served it's purpose regardless...and MUCH cheaper than buying the "good" masking tape. If you need a lot of tape and don't want to break your bank then give this tape a shot.
