Product description
A raucous western comedy starring screen legends Clint Eastwood (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, High Plains Drifter) and Lee Marvin (Cat Ballou, Monte Walsh), Paint Your Wagon is punctuated by a classic score by the great Lerner and Loewe (My Fair Lady, Gigi), including “They Call the Wind Maria,” “I Talk to the Trees” and “Wand’rin’ Star.” The story of a gold-mining boomtown full of brawny men centers on the work-and-play partnership of prospectors Ben and Pardner (mischievous Marvin and earnest Eastwood). They share everything—the gold, the laughs, the songs…even their wife (spirited Jean Seberg, Breathless, Macho Callahan)! It’s the musical goldmine of ’69, directed by Joshua Logan (South Pacific, Camelot), shot by William A. Fraker (Bullitt, Tombstone) and adapted for the screen by Paddy Chayefsky (Marty, Network)!

No Name City !

- Reviewed in Canada on August 22, 2020Verified PurchaseI love Lee Martin's acting in this. He represents so well the character he plays. Also love the film's setting and set as well as most of the music. Lee Margins singing "I was born under a wandering star" was a classic.

- Reviewed in Canada on February 22, 2025Verified PurchaseA musical, drama and comedy? Lee Marvin can't sing. Clint Eastwood can barely (but should stick with his piano).
A bit of a crazy story.
But who on earth would Kino Lorber include the exact same content on the 4K as the regular Blu-ray disc?
The only extras is the trailer, plus 3 trailers with Marvin, 3 trailers with Eastwood and three trailers for movies with nothing in common except they are from the 1970s or 1980s. (No "Play All")

5.0 out of 5 stars Westernmusical und Clint Eastwood singt selbst!!!
Lee Marvin "I was Born under a wandering star".

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent movie - Finally in higher definition
Verified PurchaseI saw the movie when it was originally released and enjoyed it then. It took years for a DVD release which I purchased. The Blu-ray was not available. Now there is Blu-ray and 4K. The transfer is good, the sound is high quality. The only "special feature" is 2 movie critics/industry insiders talking over while the movie plays again. They talk about some of the people, actors, director, etc. and their remembrances. Not great "special feature". The film is a good comedy with excellent songs. Some of the actors are not great singers but it is forgivable. Excellent production values. This is a favorite movie and is to be enjoyed many times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally entertaining film
Verified PurchaseThis 4K edition of "Paint Your Wagon" (1969) has got to be the best. A much sharper and brighter picture and deeper sound quality. I have always loved this movie since first viewed at the box office. Lee Marvin, Clint Eastwood and Jean Seberg and a host of others were marvelous. The music memorable and joyously entertaining. A must for all the fans of the actors that made this movie great.
