Fantastic guitar controller. I recently got an Xbox Series X and realized all my old Xbox 360 songs Rock Band songs would still be available to me but Rock Band guitars are impossible to find unless you want to pay a ton of money. Grabbed this one because it seemed to fit my needs and it has been perfect. Looks nice, plays great, very quiet strum bar. I have seen people say the tilt function for Overdrive didn't work for them but I've had no issues so maybe that's a problem that has since been fixed. Overall great choice for Rock Band 4

    Surprisingly well designed guitar, with folding neck for easy storage, strap included, online manual just incase you “lost” your book. (No physical copy in box)

    You do have to install 2 programs to use it for clone hero (I’ll list them below for those who need it) I haven’t tried it in Fortnite festival or Rock band 4, but it’s most likely a plug n play. Easy connect setup.

    The two programs you need will be
    -VIGEMBUS (can be downloaded from the GitHub link on the forum)
    -RB4INSTRUMENTMAPPER (can be downloaded from the GitHub link on the forum)

    To find the links search up (PDP Riffmaster clone hero) and go to the YouTube video made by “andrewretrogames” he’ll have the links you need in the video description and you can just follow the video tutorial to finish your set up. The rest is pretty straight forward

    Make sure you get the xbox model if you want compatibility with PC/festival specifically. Both models SHOULD have been designed to work with PC but they were not, definitely an oversight with the programming team wanting you to have to buy 2 different guitars if you play on both PC and PS. It's probably more cost effective even for beginners to get into custom guitars from other businesses, since this was supposed to be more accessible and it somehow is not because of how they did the production runs. Definitely worth getting a guitar but find it elsewhere if you can.

    The overdrive is assigned to d pad which is hard to reach if you have small hands and easy to end up in a menu. The tilt requires you to practically spin the whole guitar to work, so you should expect to miss notes just trying to use it unless you can reach that d-pad or are particularly practiced already. Frustrating design!

    The glossy finish is also a fingerprint magnet, why did they go with this choice 👀

    I don't mind the USB-A type dongle but having to take off the whole plate to store it it definitely not a great design, I expect it'll wear out pretty fast. This was designed for obsolescence in a handful of years for sure when the lithium ion battery dies, but the battery life for now seems excellent.

    Love the foldable design though, they did do that well, and that a joystick was added for navigating other parts of the game.

    I'm glad I got a guitar, I wish there was more competition on the market. This isn't good design by any stretch and companies are not managing staff well if they are putting out products in this state. Shame on PDP for such a money-grab design, I hope a small business swoops in with affordable mass produced options and makes a killing.

    I was on the hunt for a guitar controller to use for Clone Hero, so initially I was looking at a bunch of used guitars from old guitar hero games, but always got skeptical buying any because of quality concern or if they even worked properly, and then any of the like-new to brand new ones I would find were way too expensive to justify buying them, and even further more I know that there’s custom modding for guitar hero guitars but I just wasn’t ready to make that type of investment, because those are the most expensive of all….then after awhile I stumbled upon this thing.

    It’s very good for what it is, but there’s some pros and cons that I’m about to list to help you make your decision.

    Pros:
    • The build quality is very nice. You can tell that PDP made sure this thing is gonna last you a while.
    • It’s wireless, and also has a rechargeable battery. Super convenient for my set up.
    • The buttons feel good and smooth and the same for the strum bar.
    • It’s got a small analog stick on the back of the neck to use on the Xbox for the Fortnite guitar hero-like game mode they created to navigate menus so that’s a plus.
    • It’s also foldable which is very nice for storage
    • It’s brand new! No need to worry about a broken guitar.

    Cons:
    • For me this is more neutral but I can see this as a con for a lot of people, but this guitar is a Rockband guitar. It has the exact soft sort of mushy feel, and button/strum bar style as a traditional Rockband guitar so if those aren’t your thing then you probably aren’t going to like this one, but for me I don’t mind at all.
    • If you’re buying the Xbox version like I did (I have a Series X so it made sense) then in order for you to use this on PC it is not plug and play like the PlayStation version is. You need to install 2 pieces of software: ViGEmBus, and RB4Instrument mapper in order for Clone Hero to detect the guitar. (at least right now at the time of this review). The only thing to note is that if you choose the PlayStation version, it does not have tilt function or whammy function according to other people’s reviews but the Xbox one does after setting up the pieces of software.
    • It isn’t the cheapest thing in the world, but to me it’s worth an investment because it plays very well and will last a long time since it’s new.
    • If you're someone that does those extreme tap shredding CH charts like the ones the streamer Açaí does, this guitar isn’t exactly set up for that kind of thing so it probably wouldn’t be ideal for you. I’m sure it’s possible but I’ve heard from many people that Rockband guitars just aren’t ideal for that style of playing.

    All in all, this thing is extremely solid for regular people that came from Guitar Hero that wanna play some of their favorite songs and more custom ones with ease. 9.5/10 guitar controller that I think most people will love.

    El producto es excelente es muy bonita, yo la uso para pc para jugar Clone Hero, tengo que decirles que van a necesitar programas externos para poder jugar Clone Hero ya que la pc por sí sola no detecta la guitarra programas como el VigemBus y el RB4 emulador, para Fortnite Festival no siempre me lo detectaba pero con el emulador sí lo hace solo que tiene que estar apagado (no se es algo raro de explicar lo que hago es prenderlo que la detecte y lo apago y ya me detecta la guitarra)

    NO DETECTA EL GIROSCOPIO
    O por lo menos a mí no en si es algo que se supone se puede arreglar en el mismo CH pero a mí no me ha funcionado y honestamente me da flojera configurar pues en un principio tuve que investigar que programas externos eran necesario
