This lamp came fully assembled with the CR2032 battery for the calendar already installed. It came with a decent length 68.5" (74 cm) MicroUSB charging cable (which is perfect for my phone), instruction sheet, product warranty card and a thank you note with the company's phone number and email for service.

The 3.7V lithium rechargeable battery works the LED lights. When charging, there is a red solid light that goes off when fully charged.

The power button on the base gives 3 levels of brightness (high med low), then off. The sun icon button above it turns the backlight on and off for the calendar display.

Setting the time is a bit confusing as the buttons are on the back but the display is on the front. Use the left button "Mode" to get into the settings, then "Set" for each option and to confirm, and "Up" and "Down" to select. The first option is 24/12 hr time, then the time, then the YEAR, then month/day.

There is also a birthday setting which plays a song for 5 minutes at a certain time on a certain day. Make sure the year is set to THIS year, not the birthdate. Since there is only one birthday setting and only for one year, it will only go off once. I assume after one birthday, you would set it again for the next birthday in the household. It would be better to have multiple birthdays without a year and then just automatically go off EVERY year for that date and time. Or just a button to play the birthday song at the time you want it to play.

Also on the light/clock, there is also an alarm with snooze, and a countdown timer.

The temperature is set with the "Set" button in time mode. The temperature seems somewhat accurate +/- a few degrees.

In my confusion I changed the temperature units quite a few times, and set the birthday reminder when I was trying to set the clock. I had to go back and read the instructions again, as the menus do not seem intuitive.

This is a nice portable clock and light for travelling, camping or other places you need a light or clock. Bring the instructions with you just in case.

I have had this lamp for awhile, using only the light and not the digital display. Soon after being fully charged it either dies completely until charged again or will come on, but only for short times and then shuts down again. I am disappointed with OttLight's drop in quality control. I am returning it, and I have lost faith in the brand.
