- Reviewed in Canada on May 22, 2024Verified PurchaseI don't always plan cookie making ahead, so I often always have cold butter. I can slice the butter up and use the heat on this thing, to avoid the room temp butter in advance issue. The heater (kinda like a gently blow dryer) and the turning mixer operate independently, so you can have each on by itself, or both together. It gently blows warm air over the beaters, and it's mild. Not harsh enough to melt butter, just soften it. Once it's soft, you turn the heater part off, and continue beating without the heater. I almost solely use this to soften butter or cream cheese. A full 2 cups of product is just fine, and more maybe. If you want a really cold 2 cups of butter, either slowly chip away at it vertically, or use a butter knife to make square slabs 1st. The motor squeaks a touch if it's struggling a bit with the load, so I took off 1 star for that, but I'm pretty happy with it, and would recommend it.
- Reviewed in Canada on November 6, 2024Verified PurchaseThis mixer had lots of power, but the gears for it were very flimsy and didn’t lost any time at all. I was mixing a cake which really wasn’t making it work that hard and the gears inside of it went. I contacted the manufacturer as well as 鶹 and never got an answer of any kind. Not happy.

- 270-watt, 7 speeds (average mixers are typically 200-250 watts of power)
- HEATSOFT Technology (amazing for softening butter or cream cheese)
- Boost button for additional speed/power
- Clip-on case to store your hand mixer with the beaters (mine was broken out of the box)
- Removable dishwasher safe magnetic nozzle
- Removable filter
My original hand mixer is pushing 20 years but I love it and wondered how well this one would hold up to mine. After testing it out for a week, I’m sold! The Oster is way better, much faster, more watts and includes HEATSOFT Technology. Unlike most hand mixers, you are not required to press and hold the boost and heat buttons, just press them once and let go.
With HEATSOFT turned on, I directed an infrared thermometer underneath the mixer, it slowly reached a temperature of 280°F (138°C). I’m sure it could have gone higher but after I waited a few minutes and noticed the temperature drastically slowed down, I decided to stop.
The perfect thing for me to test would be to make a cheesecake, especially since it is not recommended to microwave cream cheese as it can ruin the fats, if you’re not too careful. Many times, I have forgotten to take cream cheese out of the fridge and allow it to sit at room temperature first and using cold cream cheese can cause undesirable lumps. I couldn’t be happier with how well this mixer worked with the heat turned on, I had a smooth (lump-free) batter in no time.
When baking with butter, room temperature attributes to the semi-solid stage where butter is spreadable but still holds its shape. Your finger leaves an imprint without resistance, but not so warm that the butter is melted. When butter is too warm, it will not aerate well when beaten with sugar, which makes the end result not flakey enough. It is highly recommended you allow butter to reach room temperature so the result has the most favourable texture. With help from Oster, you never need to worry if you forgot to take the butter out again.

- Reviewed in Canada on June 6, 2019Before this handmixer, I had only ever used a very old Betty Crocker hand mixer at home. After using this mixer for the first time, I'm pretty impressed.
It's fairly quiet, my husbands phone rang while I was using it and he carried on a conversation while the mixer was on. With the Betty Crocker mixer, that was impossible. So that was a nice bonus.
I used the heat to soften the butter while mixing with sugar. It worked great! No need to soften it before hand (unless your butter was in the freezer!). Ejecting the beaters was also easy, especially compared to my old hand mixer. It's also easy to clean and seems to have enough power to do most baking projects.
I do wish it came with more beater options. According to the internet and manual, there's a version of this mixer with all the different beaters included. I'm not sure if you can buy those extra beaters separately (it's usually harder to find accessories in Canada, in general), but I'd buy them if I could!
This is a great mixer and I recommend it. If that opinion changes, I'll be back to update.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 5, 2022Verified PurchaseI know for sure that Oster products are amazing and can last a lifetime, but this item being used was not the best purchase. I know that being used it might have some scratches or be stained, it never stated that it was missing their attachments, luckily I got the ones to cream the butter and make meringues, im missing the whish and the two dough hooks. It also makes a weird noise when using at lowest speeds, maybe the owner dropped it. Next time I will pay full price..Im an experienced baker and actually rely on my mixers. Very disappointing.

Verified PurchaseThe other one I had received as a gift had a problem with inserting the beaters. It finally gave up even holding the beaters. Hoping this new one will not be the same problem

5.0 out of 5 stars Super nice.
Verified PurchaseI really liked the plastic holder that keeps all the beaters and cord all together. Sits really good in storage without the cord dangling all over the place. The blender is really nice and I like the heat setting to warm up the butter because sometimes I forget to let it come to room temperature before I make something. Really nice. I recommend. Was delivered promptly, and the price was SIGNIFICANTLY less than BestBuy.
