What is Coconut Milk and HOW is Jiva Organics Coconut Milk Different?

Our Jiva Organic Pure Coconut Milk is made from USDA-certified organic coconuts grown in the fertile valley regions of Sri Lanka.

  • No guar gum, no additives - We use only the natural coconut and water to produce our coconut Milk. We do not add guar gum or any preservatives to maintain purity. BPA free cans.
  • Full 18% fat - This coconut milk is our full fat, no guar gum version.
  • ONLY two ingredients - Coconut & Water. No thickeners, no emulsifiers.

What is Guar Gum and Why do we NOT use it?

Guar gum is a food additive that's found throughout the food supply.

It's especially useful in food manufacturing because it's soluble and able to absorb water, forming a gel that can thicken and bind products

Most of the Coconut milk sold in the world is thickened with Guar Gum and therefore will have an artificially thick creamy consistency. Jiva coconut milk does NOT use guar gum, instead we have a high coconut fat content so it is naturally creamy but may have a lighter consistency than others.

Diary Free Mango Smoothie!

Dairy-Free Mango Coconut Milk Smoothie

Blend together the following ingredients:

  • 1 mango or ~ 1 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1 wedge lime juice squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon flax seed oil
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1-2 teaspoons honey to taste
  • 1/2 cup non-dairy milk I used cashew milk

Fresh mint leaves for garnish, optional

Coconut Milk as a Dairy Alternative

Jiva Organics Coconut milk is like dessert in a glass. It’s naturally sweet and rich thanks to the high saturated fat content of coconut which we leave in tact (remember: saturated fat is the good fat). It’s used often in Asian cuisines and is a must-have when you’re making curry (at least in our opinion). For those who don’t drink animal milk, coconut milk is a suitable alternative for traditional dairy in drinking or curries, smoothies, baking or any recipe calling for milk.
