This starter gear has been installed on my wife's john deere gx 85 for about 18 months and its like new still.
Lots $$ less than replacing the $100+ starter and maybe having the same gear blow up soon after. The starter motors themselves seldom burn out, just the weak links like this gear.
Easy to replace if you have some mechanical ability, and if you don't ,well buy this gear and put it it wouldja. Thats how you learn. It's not difficult if you want to get of the couch. The nebours boy can probably assist by supplying the tools or watching u tube movies for you
remember to unhook the battery first.
