Longvida Optimized Curcumin is a unique, bioavailable form of curcumin with sustained action. The Longvida Solid Lipid Curcumin Particle (SLCP) delivery technology protects bioactive ‘free’ curcumin from pill to cell, through the harsh environment of the stomach, bypassing the standard absorption route via the liver and instead entering the lymphatic system, later also protecting against early excretion in the kidneys. Delivers higher levels of 'free' curcumin over lesser curcuminoids
Turmeric root contains a trio of curcuminoid compounds, including ‘free’ curcumin, DMC and BDMC. Studies show that ‘free’ curcumin is the most bioactive, yet when purchasing a curcumin supplement, each will provide a combination of these three curcuminoids. Very few supplements, including those using leading delivery systems, can effectively raise and sustain levels of ‘free’ curcumin. Even well-known Meriva, which offers strong bioavailability, is more effective at raising the other curcuminoids (e.g. DMC & BDMC), over ‘free’ curcumin. In summary, benefiting from curcumin (with a huge body of supporting clinical evidence), relies on increasing ‘free’ curcumin; incidentally it is also the only form proven to cross the blood-brain barrier for neurological benefits. Ultra bioavailable & sustained action
Standard, unformulated curcumin (essentially plain turmeric), is less than 1% bioavailable. Curcumin absorption is diminished at several stages in the digestive process. First, it is degraded by stomach acid, then rapidly metabolised into less active forms by liver enzymes and is easily excreted in the kidneys. Not only does little curcumin reach the bloodstream, but the half-life of standard curcumin (the time taken to halve its concentration in the body) is less than 1 minute! Even piperine-based (black pepper) delivery systems, which aid the amount absorbed, only have a half-life of 6 minutes, severely limiting the effects. Furthermore, piperine works by suppressing liver detoxification which, long term, may not be beneficial for the safe removal of toxins, medications and excess hormones in the body. In contrast, Longvida delivers curcumin with a 7-hour half life, and safely be taken long term, without compromising other vital functions.
How longvida technology works
Longvida Solid Lipid Curcumin Particle (SLCP) technology encapsulates curcumin in a protective lipid layer, optimising its journey from pill to cell. Longvida transports curcumin effectively through the acidic environment of the stomach, and then bypasses normal absorption via the circulatory system, instead entering the lymphatic system. This key step bypasses the liver (the major detoxification organ which rapidly metabolises standard curcumin), and subsequently avoids early excretion by the kidneys. This advanced delivery system achieves 65x higher curcumin plasma levels with sustained effects.
