About XL Recordings
XL Recordings is a British independent record label founded in 1989 by Tim Palmer and Nick Halkes. It has been ran and co-owned by Richard Russell since 1996. It forms part of the Beggars Group.
Product description
On their third album, Radiohead have stripped away many of the obvious elements of guitar rock, creating music that is subtle and textured yet still has the feeling of rock & roll. Even at its most adventurous -- such as the complex, multi-segmented "Paranoid Android" -- the band is tight, melodic, and muscular, and Thom Yorke's voice effortlessly shifts from a sweet falsetto to vicious snarls. The album received unanimous critical acclaim and has since been cited as one of the greatest rock albums of all time. It was nominated in the Album of the Year and Best Alternative Music Performance categories at the 1998 Grammy Awards, ultimately winning the latter.
“In an interstellar burst, Radiohead slaps the music world on the face with one of the most respected and acclaimed albums in rock & roll history. OK Computer came seemingly out of nowhere and kicked our asses until there was nothing left to kick. This landmark masterpiece set a new standard for rock musicians that has yet to be challenged.” - Tiny Mix Tapes
“The Radiohead album, which was well ahead of its time when it was first released remains the most genius compilation of music ever created. This is not up for dispute – OK Computer is more than just a collection of songs; it is a work of art comprised of progressive music brimming with atmosphere and depth.” - Metro UK

- Reviewed in Canada on December 19, 2013Verified PurchaseWell it's an incredible album - I think Radiohead's best - and the sound quality of this LP is really good. I wish it were on 1 LP instead of 2 though. This whole thing about how putting it on 2 LPs for better sound quality is annoying. The difference in sound is completely negligible - the 2 LP for better sound thing is 99% audiophile gimmick. I'd way rather not have to flip the record so often. But other than that, great album. :)
- Reviewed in Canada on December 17, 2021Verified Purchasealso it comes in a proper cd case
- Reviewed in Canada on January 23, 2021Verified PurchaseFantastic album and regret not getting it back in the 90s! I don't give it 5 stars simply because I subjectively prefer the sound of The Bends, their previous album which gives us the more quintessential 90s alternative rock sound. OK Computer provides a hint at the experimental sound for which the band has come to be known. In particular, the tracks Paranoid Android and No Surprises are masterpieces.

Pure Magie in meinen Ohren!
