    We ordered this can opener after seeing it here on 鶹, then watching people test it out on other internet site. This can opener works just as advertised! It takes virtually no effort at all to use, just fingertip operation really. The entire top of the can lifts off after being cut and is not sharp so there is no worrying about cutting ones self with the lid. If anyone out there has problems with their hands, fingers or wrists and are looking for a manual can opener, get this one. Also, after the top of the can has been removed it can be put back on if you don't end up using the entire can at that time and the can opener never comes in contact with whatever is inside the can, preventing you from having to wash it after every use and worrying about it rusting over time. Excellent product!

    Pretty sure any of the hater reviewers are not using this tool properly. It does NOT cut the top of the can. It cuts the side-rim, just under the edge. It's so insanely clean, it pretty much eliminates the danger of cutting yourself on the lid. And you can seriously put the lid back on the can with a better seal than plastic wrap. If you don't want to use the tiny claw on the tool to lift the lid off your can, I found that a gentle squeeze of the can helps pop off the lid.

    It's so smooth, it can be hard to tell when you've completed your full circle so sometimes to have to pay attention to your start point. Its' very hard to see the cut because it's right along the rim of the lid.

    I would recommend this to anyone with the attention span to understand that it's not a 'normal' can opener. It's totally superior to our old regular opener.

    Really not sure how some of the other reviews on here are struggling with this. I've opened numerous cans of various sizes with this with no problem at all. The only thing I can think of is they haven't noticed the cans are open because the lid doesn't pop off like a traditional opener due to the way it opens them and where the cut is. This is also why it has some pliers built in to easily grab and take off the cut lid.

    No sharp edges though, can actually use the lid to close the can, pretty comfortable to use. My one complaint would be the turn handle is pretty close to the end and large so on bigger cans I've found it a little awkward as can't do a full spin comfortably without my fingers hitting the can.

    The can opener will cleanly and effortlessly cut top off almost any can. At first it might seem the opener is not working as it is so effortless. But if you carefully lift the lid off the can, you will see a clean, safe top. The opener also has a tweezers like device that can lift the lid off after the top is cut. It took me a bit of time to figure out the tweezer like device but I think it is great.
    I have only had one can that defeated this can opener.

    I've only had it a week, so I can't comment on its durability, but so far, so good. It works slightly differently to other can openers and the first time I used it, I thought it wasn't working. It felt effortless and the lid was apparently still attached. Then I read the instructions and realised that it had in fact opened the can, but I needed to pop off the lid with the pincers on the side. It's very easy to use and works well.

    I have moderate arthritis in my fingers and this is reasonably easy to use. It takes a tad more pressure than a traditional large crank can opener (like a kitchenAid). At first, I didnt think it was working, but then realized that you have to use the built-in grips to pry off the lid. I also have a battery powered can opener that opens cans from the side, and never had to pry off the lid like that. My battery-powered opener is my main can opener and I just got this one as a backup - which its fine for.

    So I'm definitely not one to get excited about kitchen gadgets, but now that I'm trying to cook more I need to use the can opener often. We used to have an electric one which I LOVED, but when we moved into a small Craftsman bungalow with almost no counter space in the kitchen I got rid of it. Going back to the old can opener was miserable and I could barely use it myself, often just getting my husband to do it for me. So I finally broke down and decided I need to get a new one instead of waiting for hubby to get home just to open a can for me.

    I have really enjoyed OXO products I have ordered in the past and this looked like a great little piece of machinery. I watched the video and was amazed at how easy it looked. I ordered, but didn't want to get my hopes up while waiting for it to arrive. I was used to the can skittering around on the counter top and making a mess all the while, especially when I removed the lid which usually ended up in the can. So when this arrived I at least wanted it to be better than my old one, but I didn't want to hold my breath.

    I took out a can and tried to attach the OXO can opener, but it took me a second being used to my old one on which the handles went a different direction. So then I got it on right, very simply in fact (I guess I was trying to hard, lol). Then I attempt my first turn, awaiting the pain and struggle that I've come to associate with opening a can. It went so smoothly I began shaking my head assuming it must not be working, it didn't look like it was working. So I got all the way around and again being used to the lid plunking into the can, but this not happening with the OXO, I decided it must not have worked. I knew it was too good to be true, then I picked up the can, and under a squeeze of my hand the lid popped open. I was dumbfounded that I had just opened a can without breaking a sweat and with absolutely no pain in my fingers/hands/wrists/joints/etc., not to mention absolutely NO MESS!!!

    If there is one piece I will take with me wherever I move and will always be on my MUST HAVE list, this is it! I've never opened a can easier, even when I had the electric can opener. This OXO is so easy you too will probably wonder if it's working or if you're doing it right. When the lid comes up you will be amazed that there are no sharp edges and in most cases you can set the lid back down over the can to save the leftovers. I did notice however it depends on the size/sturdiness of the can. I had a harder time with smaller flimsier cans as the lid tends to shift, plus it works best if you set the lid back down exactly as you took it off which is relatively impossible. In almost every case though I could set the lid on, and while it didn't seal I was confident that the food would be fresh and not dried out when I next needed it from the fridge (I'd definitely use it within the week just to be safe).

    I also love the little pliers so I don't have to attempt to get it off with my fingers. Just one gentle tug and it pops right off, again with no mess. If you're looking for a reliable and easy to use can opener then most definitely give this one a try. Now I don't have to wait for hubby to get home to cook, and I don't have to deal with pain from struggling with a difficult opener. This is so easy I'm using it at least twice as much as our old one, I wish I had got one sooner!
