- Reviewed in Canada on April 30, 2025Verified PurchaseA must for any gothic horror fan. Lily Rose Depp is especially riveting in this film, that captures perfectly the dread of the 1922 and 1979 versions, but with a more epic feel. Robert Eggers directs arguably the best version of the three Nosferatu films.

- Reviewed in Canada on April 2, 2025Verified PurchaseThe sound mix on this Blu-ray is atrocious and the movie suffers tremendously because of it. This dolby atmos is utter garbage and the movie has no score because of it making it a horrible viewing experience.
Also the 40 minute making of documentary is incredible too short. They crammed everything including the kitchen sink into it and because of the amount of content and short running time, it too suffers. With how much work went into the movie, the documentary should’ve been 90 minutes.
The ‘extended cut’ is 4 minutes longer with nothing groundbreaking however if you do listen to the informative and intimate commentary, you may wanna skip the theatrical version and listen to the commentary with the extended cut of the movie because he mentions all the scenes that were deleted and why they were deleted from the theatrical cut, and points out when the ‘extended cut’ scenes come up. It’s really great.
Over all it’s a fairly not great Blu-ray package with rushed supplemental material and a badly mixed soundmix. The movie itself is a straight up horror. Though gorgeously shot with a hypnotic directing style that literally draws you into the movie, there is significantly less creepiness and strangeness to it than I hoped for or that VVitch, Robert Eggers first film, has.
I recommend skipping this Blu-ray unless you’re a true fan of Robert’s. I do recommend seeing the film though in a dark room. 👍
- Reviewed in Canada on April 2, 2025Verified PurchaseThis is a wonderful gothic horror film with excellent performances by Lily Rose Depp and Willem Defoe in particular. This is not a remake of the original 1922 original or the 1979 Werner Herzog film. Robert Eggers chose not the use the iconic make up utilized by Max Shreck and Klaus Kinski. It is a wonderful vampire film that stands out on its own.

- Reviewed in Canada on March 7, 2025Verified PurchaseI have always hoped that someone would finally put together a great vampire movie that brings back the old mythology associated with Vampires. I hate the Vampire Diaries, Interview with a Vampire was okay but not a home run. Nosferatu does not try to glamorize the idea of a vampire movie like the other Dracula movies with fangs, flying, no reflection in mirror, "poofing" disappearances, changing into a bat did. Nosferatu touched on things that have been synonymous with the old mythology, like the Romanian location, the last voyage of the Demeter, and the effect that Nosferatu had on people. He was pure evil and this movie hits it out of the park. I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants a good scare bedtime story.
